I kid you not.... I often go to cash converters as well just to check what they got and 9 times out of 10 there will be a great guitar or a rare one, or even great deals. I find it interesting and I always recommend it to anyone looking for a cheaper options

My very first amp from 20 years ago was a 40W Marshall Valvestate 8040, similar to the one you saw at that cash converters. I sold it many years ago and I regretted it because ever since then I noticed that Marshall solid states have gone downhill and no other modeling amp I've bought since then has come close to the tone I got from that 8040. I bought an 8040 a couple of weeks ago for dirt cheap because I was looking for a cheap solid state amp that sounded good, low wattage, had 2 channels, an FX loop, and a reverb and found that there was no such thing anymore! So now I've gone full circle and couldn't be happier. So if you see another of those early valvestates in your travels and its dirt cheap Shane, I suggest you try it out. Only thing you'll need to do is clean the pots though because those amps are notorious for it. Other than that they are classics in my opinion.

+Facepalm Well said I just don't recommend it to a blues player it's a rock-metal amp imo that's not so good unless you push it using a TS (SD1 is best), it is like the polar opposite of a sweet sounding Fender mustang 3. I like the Valvestates (8100, VS100), you can get a number of righteous aggressive tones at home volumes \m/ the AVT range might be different though I have not tried one and people say they sound different.....I can't see them being that much different.

@rocknut887 жыл бұрын
on top of vibrola comment.. that epi Sg is actually a custom shop sg. the head stocks with the double stacked diamonds are the big give away... in my neck of the woods those fetch around 600 bucks used. custom shop sgs play great as well. my main gigging guitar is an epiphone Elitist sg, that was a great find shane well worth the 495 bucks

Dandenong sounds a lot like Woodridge up here just south of Brisbane.

It could be similar. They have made the place nicer over the last few years but as I was saying in the video sometimes the stigma is harder to break. :-)

I’m amazed at how much guitar gear is at these Cash Converters. I imagine you have to keep frequenting the stores to find a deal when either they screw up on the initial price or lower the price enough to move it.

Just yesterday I was in what had been a cash converters (new name now though). Guitars were the typical cheap stuff but did have a couple pedals I liked at $25 each, a boss DS1 n behringer BO100. But I've already got as much distortion as I'll ever need. maybe 4 months ago they did have a peavey bandit redstripe but that went pretty fast.

Hi Shane, That Flying V is actually a 1958 reissue not a 57 (58 was first year of production on V's, Explorers & Modernes) and is in the ballpark for price *If* it's one of the original early 1980's Korina reissues. The 1958 style of V was only made until late 1959 and was then dropped, less than 100 original V's were made. The Flying V didn't return until the 1967 version which is the one with the much larger full face pick guard and mahogany body. It wasn't until the early 1980's that Gibson reissued the 1958 style Korina V's. They actually can fetch upwards of $8k now. Chances are though that it's likely a more recent custom shop reissue and whilst epic really isn't worth $5k. Modern CS reissue much more in the $2-3k range but it's really a niche market.

NO1 in Dandenong would spend $5K on a guitar. We have a HARD enough time selling a $200 guitar in Dandenong, and they STILL want to screw you down to $50!

That lil Peavey solo can be battery powered too so it makes a great busking amp. I've heard the Valvestate amps were like Marshall's answer to Peavey's Transtube technology.

OKay mate you've made it to Dandy. Now step it up a notch and head on down to Frankston. There's Guitar Village, Guitars and Things, Cash converters plus several other pawn shops which stock instruments. Remember they actually used to have the Frankston Guitar festival many years back so it IS a spiritual home of guitars. Oh and for the true Frankston experience, make sure you take the train.

Dude that BC Rich Dagger that was in the case was a bc rich attempt at a semi hollow body guitar with f holes in the shape of daggers. I own one and once you put decent pickups in it, you got a different looking 335 copy.

Red guitar with the signature is a Paul Stanley. Any guitars of that shape with his signature will be a Washburn or a licensed Washburn (Lyon, Oscar Schmidt etc).

Chris Hoang your on the money. Came boxed with a studded strap, laminated faux concert pass and some picks here in Australia, and was bizarrely sold at 'Sanity' (a Music/DVD chain store). In my experience the fretwork was terrible, causing buzzes up and down the neck...

"lack or originality" in guitars ... Many guitar buyers want what their heroes play and the big companies give away endorsements to feed that circle. The other issue is resale, buyers struggle to find a price to compare to what they see in front of them, "is this XYZ guitar worth the money?" There is much more design experimentation in the Bass guitar market as bass buyers are open to new shapes and control systems. .... Start reviewing those off-brand guitars. Scott Grove did a small series on 'used guitars worth the money' or something like that and there were some interesting finds in there. With your Bandit sales you'd have a great chance at getting players outside their regular zones.
