Hey Scott, great vid! Always appreciated your vids and I've learned a lot from you throughout the years. One question I had is string gauges. How big of a role does it play? I do find myself liking the sound of thicker strings to get a good solid full tone out of my guitar. I am about to upgrade to 11s and just wanted to know if you have any advice when it comes to string gauges. Does it even make much of a difference, should I just stick to a lighter gauge, is it just personal preference? Thanks for all you do Scott hope all is well.
@groovydjs Жыл бұрын
Howdy, it's all preference. You have guys like Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top that use 7 gauge strings and get a super thick sound. So, just a small tweak of the amp's eq would make up for anything that you possibly lose or gain by thicker or thinner strings.

@isaiahburridgemusic Жыл бұрын
@@groovydjs you're right. Those specs are good place to start for those who are learning. But eventually, you want to do what's best for the guitar and your playing style. I learned that from YOU so many years ago when you posted this. Can you re-upload the guitar setup video you did? It's where you setup a camo covered Gibson explorer I think. @groovydjs - I really enjoyed your 3+ hour informative rant on guitar stuff! Totally agree that vintage Fender "take off the neck to adjust the truss rod" has got to be one of the most guitarded holdovers of all time; religiously keeping 21 frets is another (why not add one to make 22?). What are your thoughts on spot leveling of a few frets after the truss rod and action have been properly addressed?
