@AlfredPotterGuitar4 жыл бұрын
Before you even attempt any troubleshooting you must make sure your strings are nice and low. You can't effectively do this technique with high strings. Most guitars have high strings, that's why I am mentioning it. Statistically you will be a player with high strings.

Thanks for taking the time to create this video. I could never figure out why my tapping licks sound so bad when I try to incorporate string skipping. The sea saw exercise taught me that I was pulling off when I should have been hammering! I've got one question about the exercise. When you are making your way back down the arpeggio and tap onto the 16th fret of the high B string. Do you tap only the 16th fret or do you put your fret hand in position on the 13th fret at the same time as the tap on the 16th fret? Tapping just the 16th then trying to pull off to an unfretted note is problematic for me. Cheers!
@AlfredPotterGuitar7 жыл бұрын
Hello =) Your fretting hand does need to jump ahead in anticipation ready for the tapped note to do its pulloff. If I am understanding you correctly?
@theorncampbell44327 жыл бұрын
Alfred Potter Guitar thanks! I noticed it a bit more clearly in lesson 2. I'm doing that lesson at a painful 100bpm quarter notes. It's a bit more difficult on the way back down with the fret hand muting. I'm trying to write some riffs by tapping out chord progressions. There are no good videos on the process. You'd get a lot of views for that.

Sorry, I should have clarified. You need to have low strings for lead guitar. This is especially true for tapping. You can't have most of the tapping motion's force being wasted on pressing the string all the way to the fret. The string needs to be so low that fretting takes very little force.

@jonathansargent87876 жыл бұрын
Friendly advice. Ensure your hand is perpendicular with your fret board. Keeping that wrist posture will help significantly. Remember that you dont need to push the strings to the wood of the fretboard. Just light touching. Finally look at your string guage. It may be too thin but if you work on hand posture and touching the frets lighter you will be on the tight track:)
