I've been watching you for a long time and you are a great teacher. Your lessons apply to more than just guitar. I've been playing 26 years and you've made me a better guitar player! Thank you!

Brilliant......you must walk before you can run, so simple but so true. I'm guilty of "kind of learning " something and then going off in a different direction, but really going nowhere. Thanks Claus!

Quote of the month "There are the vital few and the trivial many." Clause is not only an awesome guitar player but a philosopher too! :-)

A year ago i was learning guitar, and liked it. But one song really bothered me, and i wanted to play it so bad, but could never get the sound right.. over and over. I kept tuning the guitar down, down, down to try and imitate what i was hearing in that song... like an idiot realized, it wasn't the guitar i was loving, it was bass. So i started all over, with bass and never looked back. ... Still i watch your videos as they apply to learning some of the best tips out there for anyone who loves the instrument.

Superb! The vital few - stop learning time-wasting scales, chords and licks and obsess on Claus's alternate picking lessons - his free Ingenium course. After 40 years at last I am on the right track!!

I've been playing for 51 years. I can pretty much play like Hendrix or whoever. But the point is I still try to learn something everyday. If I'm awake, one of my amps is on and I flip to KZbin or Ultimate Guitar and do my homework. I try not to just play one style of music or just my favorite bands. I also write music even though it often goes nowhere. In the end, it's not about playing like others, but finding yourself.

Claus this is good advice. For me, I look for patterns in songs. For example, most metal uses the same rhythm gallops and power chords and then I drill down to what my weak points are for each song and work on that. So far I have learned 50 songs in less than a year and a dozen chords and scales. Now guitar is fun!

ClausLevin n'a rien découvert ici.

They started very young 8 to 12 yrs. old, and the feel for the guitar was ingrained at an early age. Applies to any other instrument, sport. This is NEVER mentioned.

I'm not kidding... it looks cool... would like to know about it. The only other thing that i saw like that was something that Alex lifeson used back in the 70s for acoustic guitar... as I recall.... it was a modified cymbal stand. But Claus' set up looks different.
