@kevin957 The custom Dimarzio's on the Vox actually were developed at about the same time as the Duncans.....but the Dimarzios are humbucking in all 3 positions.....the Duncans are humbucking only in the humbucker position, not in the P-90 or single coil positions.

I played one at a big guitar show a few days back and it was just amazing. It felt so light that I couldn't belive they were charging £2000 for it (I guessing it's like $3200, but I'm no good with math). It feels like there's nothing to it. But if anything it makes it so much better. It was just so natural with the way it feels. Such a smooth sound as well. I want it bad, but I know I'll probably never get hold of it.

@kevin957 The original Virages have been out for at least 2 years,Maybe you aree refering to the new models of that family which were released more recently ...... If they released the original at least 2 years ago, that meant that Dimarzio must have been working on the pickups somewhat before that..........maybe Vox even went to Both Duncan AND Dimarzio, and asked them both to submit a design.

@kevin957 Actually, I contacted DiMarzio at that time asking them if I could buy the pickups from them........they indicated that the pickups were built for Vox, and as part of their agreement, that they would not be selling them except thru Vox "at this time" .

ummm plenty of hollow body's handle distortion just fine, i'm not sure what you are smoking, some may have more feedback but many many hollow bodies sound amazing with distortion

To draw conclusions about the sound quality (good or bad) from a low quality youtube video is a bit hazardous, isn't it? At most if it was an A-B comparison... Here we don't even know which amp he is using.

I agree It lacks personality. It sounds like many guitars. I own a Johnson semihollow Grooveyard it has a great sound with distortion.

The 'single coil' sounds like a humbucker, the 'p90' like a different humbucker and the 'humbucker' like another humbucker.

@konjuno People are douche bags. I love Pauls reviews, it's helped me check out some awesome (and not so awesome) guitars in guitar shops. His tone's aren't always the best, but I don't care; it shows off what sounds good and what doesn't with the guitars and amps he's reviewing, or playing with.

@cc22079 interesting thing about personality.......some guitars like Strats have tons of it......and occationally , especially in high gain situations I do not want the Strat personality to shine through.......and that in that tiype of situation, a guitar of lesser "personality" might be better......ie a Les Paul (not runing it down, just saying that to me at least , I can identify a Strat on a recording......but many 2 humbucker guitars sound very similar...different strokes for different folks

"Clean" guitar sound means CLEAN where I come from - the 60:s. Todays "Clean" guitar sound demonstrators always dial in the amp so there´s a little wasp buzzing around in a tin jar in the background no matter what, as this guy did. Please! Let´s hear the pickups as they were designed to sound - CLEAN! Then you can wreak havoc to the sound with your favourite messing up settings ... And by the way, I´m a Vox man from 1964 and onwards.

Its those terrible effects they ad in all their videos.. it seems to be a short delay, reverb and a chorus/flanger on there, makes it sound muddy like fuck.

I have seen many good reviews from Paul, this is definitely the worst. 1. These guitars lack character in sound, sounds falt and too modern almost like a synth guitar 2. No it doesn't handle distortion sounds as it is hollow body, it is simple physics3. 3. the guitar is trying to sound like 3-4 other guitars and a big failure, Just like taylor T5
