This brings me to tears every time I hear it. Reminds me of my father. He was my guitar hero my entire life before I lost him. He was responsible for my music career, starting in 1986. This was his most favorite instrumental song ever. It was the song he asked me to play the night he passed away. I'll never get over how beautiful this piece of music is. ❤️

Through this song, the pain that I feel, I hope my father feels the love I had for him and that I tried and tried but couldn't make it to be by his side during his last moments. I hope he knowsI tried and that I love him.....and that this song is dedicated to him....

❤️🔥 WOW, I saw this for the 1st time today and, as usual, was completely blown away by the performance! I’m going on 70, and only recently ‘discovered’ Steve Vai by accident (looking for SRV’s music instead), but it’s one of THE BEST music search ‘mistakes’ I’ve made to date. Not only is it the talented 🎸 playing, but that in combination with his emotional and unique style that sets him apart from so many others imo. IDK what genre I’d even consider him to be in, but think he’s in his OWN! Another bravo 👏 👍 performance of SO many❗️

A guitarist friend of mine from years back said to me once that he had extraordinary respect for Steve Vai's ability to play guitar. (He didn't have much to say about anyone else.) He went to one of Steve Vai's guitar clinics and was the first to arrive. When he walked in to the room Steve was sitting in a chair with one leg up on a desk playing his guitar when he stopped and greeted him by speaking with his guitar, saying "How are you?" "Thanks for coming, take a seat." He said that he was really impressed by that because it meant that Vai really knew his shit when it came to playing because what he did wasn't musical in nature and it would take an extraordinary talent to even figure out how to make a few words sound right but Via went on to have a conversation using his guitar to talk with like it was as easy as using his own voice. I always thought was interesting.

I think when Steve finally lays his head to rest , FLO and EVO will be buried with him. Those two guitars are about as symbolic to his playing and to himself than any instrument that any musician has played with. When he is using either of those two , its two completely different feelings and he conveys that through them both so easily. FLO is clearly his melodic and hit you in the feels guitar , and EVO is his pick me up and shredding guitar. A master of the sound he creates with both. We listen to him , he listens to them , and it shows.
@Obxhatman3 жыл бұрын
@Sci_ent_ifiC Sui_neG well , i have always been the person that would say , what does better mean? Are there people that play notes faster? cleaner? Know scales better? Maybe its better at different genres of music? I mean wtf does better actually mean? I can tell you this , Steve Vai , is a virtuoso , which is as good as it gets for anyone to be classified as that. One of my personal factors that I think is true of only a few guitarist. When a song is heard , without reading who the guitarist is , can you TELL who it is. I can honestly tell you , there is a few that are so distinct , that its almost as solid as granite stone. I can literally hear any song they are playing in , and within seconds , tell you who it is playing. That to me is more defining of what is better than anything else. Here are those guitarist on a very short list , Steve Vai , Joe Satriani , Hendrix , SRV , Eddie , Malmsteen and Rhodes.

As a musician, to have a song or an idea in mind and have it come out "precisely" as you envisioned is phenomenal, at least. But to play said song live with an audience, and to convey that same idea to everyone that hears it, is otherworldly. I'm 88% sure that Steve Vai is from a different galaxy....or a different time.......or a different galaxy and a different time. I've watched this hundreds of times, and it blows me away every time!!!! Jack Butler can play!

every guitar player has its advantages, I mean technique and Sound. not all guitarists feel the same. for me, i respect all guitarists because they have their own strengths. they are the ones who entertain us in the world as long as we are alive, we are served with a variety of guitar solos and guitar sounds from their guitar solos that are good and able to entertain us. I was amused, stunned and amazed to see the Guitar solo from Stave Vai. as if I was already in the realm of Heaven listening to this guitar solo. Thank you. Greetings From Malaysia.🤝🤝🤝

Like Joe Satriani, Steve is living, breathing, walking music. I can't be mad at him for all the effects he uses because without all of it, it would still be mind blowing.

Effects are great. Add dimension and accentuate the music. That's all

Pretending to play the guitar for 20 years won't guarrantee any music understanding to anyone. Vai is certainly in the Olympo of guitar Gods along with many others: Hendrix, Zappa, Satriani, SRV, Blackmore, Guilmour, May, Angus, Gilbert, Van Halen, Iomy, Schenker... never ending list ... you can argue who has better technique or who is faster ... but the sound they produce is unique to any of them and thus can't be compared ... as any piece of "row art" you can like it or not but you are not in position to say what is good or not, specially if you are not a professional musician. In my case, I really like Scot Henderson playing.... but I will never say is better than the others because all of them are artist and deserve respect.

Just yesterday i got demotivated by one of my colleagues. I was in my own zone of progressive rock of odd beats, then he be like" bro dont play watever you like" then somewhere it pinched me alot, but the thing was i doing the things i know, improvising, just hearing from someone who just listens to all musics and judged me through by my one type of style, may be it left a big hole, i cant get over it, am i not an artist? Been through lot of instruments and years of practice just a style could judge me, what a shame

Yes, they are unique and that is what makes them outstanding. Playing even perfect covers as many guitarists do will not come close to the original.

Amazing talent and skill. Inspirational the music is so incredibly moving and yet its there instilling a special note or unique sound resonating it's own octave. He is extremely clever in creating the story and tells it so well with the original music from a magical almost electric guitar. Awesome style. Thank you is not enough. STEVE VAI

So true. As I apply some of Steve Vai techniques in my guitar playing. Humble beginnings for me in the area of playing guitar at professional level, only a dream I guess until now. Always prompted never thought it would be a life calling. For now half time training technique half time playing freestyle by ear. I don't have a demo but will get one done professionally by my skills and ability as soon as I am happy with it and professional standard. My Dj experience seeks high standards. Thank you ever so much xxxxxxxxx

Its mysterious feel, build up and relatively quiter moments is a good representation of what happens in that state of mind and being. Its artistical genius in the way presented. Represents the motions involved in "Whispering A Prayer. The intensity and subtlety is a great paradox. Love it.

Joder¡ sorry.

The way he bottled up that feedback was inspirational. 🙏 Very few can so completely pour their soul into their music. Very few in the entire history of guitar music have mastered their instrument to this degree. That guitar is a part of his body and part of his soul.
