I don't mind classical.. I understand how some people find it not enjoyable but 2 players finding best moves countering each other ideas is not that bad. There was a lot of times both could blunder and kudos for not going in actually boring draws in Spanish games. Still looking forward to rapid format where we will see more dynamic plays. But first players have to earn it.

Classical is real chess. Real thinking chess as chess is supposed to be, a battle of two minds. Not mere thoughtless game for mere entertainment of empty-headed viewers. If classical is reduced, chess as a mindpower game is over because both players will be forced to play less thinking moves. I don't care what the chess celebrities in today's mindless, substance-less chess pop culture say.

I’ve been waking up at 4 in the morning to watch these games that start at 5 pm Singapore time . I know the game starts in Croatia at 10:00 am Singapore being 7 hours ahead of Croatia’s time and 13 hours ahead NY time . I guess the players should have plenty of time to get some sleep in before the games start . Of course I’m rooting for Gukesh a draw is better than a loss . I like the fact Gukesh is searching for a way to take advantage at some point in the game just hasn’t really happened . As long as he keeps at it I think it will optimistically . The Medo Bot is no pushover I lost like 3 in row before winning twice . It’s good that it doesn’t blunder as much as other Bots that make obvious mistakes . With 5 games to go I hope we have some decisive games so the player with more points wins without the tie breaks id rather see it determined in the classical games since its that kind of tournament . Thanks Agadmator have a great day as well

Gukesh draw as white is kinda like a loss because he can’t really afford to go into Rapids against Ding. The gap is pretty significant. Playing for win against Ding as Black is pretty risky. So now what happens if Ding plays super drawish forced lines in his 3 white games? Gukesh has only 2 games as White to push. If those are drawn we will go to rapid tiebreaks where Ding has significant advantage.

I know people want fireworks and both players to push for the win all the time and play cavalier lines where they disregard their score, but that is never going to happen. This was absolutely high level chess. Both are too well prepared, and strong over the board to calculate what to do when they are out of prep. Both are playing so accurately, and when that happens it will be a draw. Who is going to have that one secret bit of prep they are holding in reserve? Or can find that magical move on the board (as Ding did last time) to force a decisive result? Sure, the games are not really thrilling, but the tension sure is cranking up!
