We're not exactly far left. Our provincial leaders typically are progressive conservatives, occasionally flip-flopping with liberals. Both those parties are centrist at their core while each has Fringe elements, as do the American Federal and State parties. Note that I said progressive conservatives. Unfortunately, the Apple eating Pierre Poilievre who you thought was dominating an interview with an inexperienced interviewer - was simply showing his contempt, one of his most common traits and he's sometimes referred to as Trump Lite. He's not light. He is a threat to the progressive and the centrist citizens of Canada and our way of life. Unfortunately pulls indicate he is most likely to become the next prime minister of our country. I am fairly optimistic though that he can be held in check by our parliamentary system of government. Of course, I'm sure most Americans thought that Donald Trump could be held in check by your fabled checks and balances. Would seem to have corroded and broken. So it is true that the northern bit of America is going to become a Canadian state and the US states will become Canadian districts within this while Alaska will go to Greenland… That just leaves the various islands which will all be returned to their rightful indigenous owners. That just leaves the US bases which will revert immediately to the country they are in, with the armed forces there being given the option to return to the Canada, Mexico or Greenland (depending on their origin) or remain and become naturalised within their adopted country.
