I think the issue with this HD rumble is that the rotors are way too big. In a joycon the rotors are smaller and are made to vibrate at those higher frequencies. So when big rotors spin that fast it feels violent.

The issue with HD rumble that there is basically no 3rd party controllers that actually can replicate it to 100% accuracy. Also, maglev motors causing interferences with microphones and basically works better with regular rumble games or Dualsense haptics.

There are Types of Mechanical Switches, the Clicky, the Tactile and the Linear, if you own a Mechanical Keyboard, it's very likely you can even swap them depending on what you wanna do... Usually Clicky are for Typing, But Noisy, mostly used at home, Tactile are similar to membrane feeling, good for Typing and Gaming, But Quieter than clicky ones, mostly used at the Offices, and the Linear are mostly used for Gaming, Not Clicky and Smooth Travel (probably like the ones in the controller)... There are also colors related to the type and pushing force, and Optical ones without electrical contacts and hot swappable, but expensive. Most people only know about the "Classical Clicky Blue Switches", but there's a whole Universe (Market) around Mechanical Swiches...

Great detailed review, really appreciate people that take the time to dig into every detail about things before others (we the consumers watching) buy them and get to know what to expect before we buy if they're vastly different we can return them etc or the features it has vs what we want. The rumble is kinda weird, but not using it for switch so not really a big deal for me. The mechanical I also don't prefer, bit weird they advertised that when they're not, some reviews have actually pulled apart the controller and yes they are indeed membrane lol. But yeah I just don't prefer mechanical since they're generally louder and clicky, I like that squishier membrane feel similar to the ps controllers. One reason I'm looking for a new controller is the xbox series controller with super loud mechanical dpad buttons it would probably wake the neighbors if it was any louder, great controller, but man that one thing not a fan lol. Anyways keep up the good work, really love when someone takes the full dig into things, the sounds of the controller, what they do, etc, what's it like to actually have it here before I buy it. Also really love the macro feature here, I play a game with crafting and such so I can just set that up and afk while it crafts for me, very cool.

I think Mario Wonder's second level just isn't a great way to test the rumble. Like, sure, it's pretty much the only _recordable_ way to show it to an audience through a KZbin video (and is definitely a great way to test for fake Pro Controllers, too)… but at the same time, it feels like such a weird, niche and specific feature, almost like it's separate from “normal” HD Rumble (I mean, in the game's settings, there's literally an option to turn off sound alongside adjusting rumble strength--literally the same setting in the menu). I don't know how it works internally, but it's probably a specific use of Nintendo's particular (and probably patented) API and motors. I don't know if it's a weird hardware feature that's rarely used, or if it's a software idea that the game specifically came up with and uses the hardware in just the right way to produce that result… but it just feels like it's too much to expect from a third-party company that perhaps wasn't even allowed to manufacture its controller this way (or couldn't access blueprints; I don't know how much of a trade secret it is or if it's accessible to certain companies in China or maybe even publicly available… but we all know Nintendo and legal issues, come on now). I suppose it would be hard to convey a feeling of touch any other way, but I suppose I'm mostly interested in how the vibrations generally _feel_ across games that use HD Rumble for your usual experience enhancing moments, like Zelda explosions, Mario Kart engines, Smash Bros. attacks or whatever. As long as that feels better than those dumb vibratory motors in controllers… I guess I'm happy. Unless it's just horrendous, so I guess I'll simply have to try that one out for myself! Remember Amazon returns are always a thing, in the worst case scenario, people! (but this does feel like a really good all-round feature-packed controller for me to keep it :3) Maybe another (even more famous) test case is the example of 1-2 Switch. That marble counting game was the typical showcase for HD Rumble. Not everybody has that game, I guess, it's not the best. But it's pretty standard and very early for most reviewers to have, I'd hope. It's so much of a demo that Nintendo seriously should've given it away for free or have it preinstalled on consoles, at least kinda like Nintendo Land as an attractive deal for most people to get it with their Wii U back then~

Very informative video, but I am planning to return mine. The motion control feels inconsistent and over shoots sometimes with left and right movement even after the lastest availabe firmware update. There's also delay or lag with up and down motions. Really unplayable on games like Splatoon on higher ranks. If you pklay with motion I can't recomend this. The 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth is more accurate.

Why would you need Turbo on back buttons when the back buttons are just remappings of the buttons you can do Turbo on already lol? 😂 it's all good my guy I still love you. But ya know, I think you realized your mistake at the end when you were like, "I guess you could just assign it to the other buttons"... exactly!

... I'm still waiting for a gamepad with ABXY BAYX interchangeable LEDs letters when in Switch or XBox mode... :( Physically swapping the buttons is unpractical.

Si fuiste muy duro con el control pero era justo y necesario, tu me ayudaste a diferenciar y entender realmente el HD Rumble, y es justo resaltar estas carencias, en español hay un dicho dice asi "dime de que presumes y te dire de que careces"

"This is not the game to be showing you gyro," then why are you showing it? Maybe a 2.5D platformer isn't the best showcase of what it could do? Is this gyro working as a mouse input or joystick movements? Comments on its accuracy?

Tactile doesn't mean it's mechanical. Gulikit never claimed this is mechanical, they only said it is tactile. Tactile doesn't mean clicky aswell. Tactile means you can feel the actuation bump on they keys. Linear means no actuation bump. Silent and clicky are also different characteristics. Which are self explanatory.

When it first launched they did actually claim the switches were mechanical. They then quickly realised this mistake and changed the wording to 'tactile' and removed specific reference to mechanical. When we recorded this video it was at launch of the product when they still said the controller had mechanical switches. Apart from this oversight by them (and I'm glad they changed the wording on their marketing) the controller is amazing.

the back button seems useless because u cant use it for macro neither turbo, so i think its not the best controller with macro feature like flydigi vader 3 pro

this or the mobapad

Do you mean the Mobapad Chitu HD pro style controller? Or the Mobpad M6 S/HD joycons? Both are for different use cases but I use the Chitu HD as my main pro style controller and the Mobapad M6 HD as my main joy-cons!

You clearly clueless about what "mechanical" is. It's not clicky, but that doesn't mean it's not mechanical. Does it use membrane switches? Is it resistive or capacitive membrane swtiches with tactile pads? Yes? No? If not then it could well be mechanical even if it's not clicky.
