I never realized how kind of horrifying The Signal actually is. The way everything kept glitching out and leading to Gumbal and Darwin into danger and how at the end the glitch specifically prevented Gumball from realizing the truth

I mean let's be real, Adventure Time has shed its kid show disguise ages ago once the Lich was introduced and it doubled down with its post-apocalyptic setting and literal eldritch gods beyond human comprehension. Then there's Regular Show.

The funny thing about "The Advice" is that Mr. Small's advice wasn't even bad, Gumball and Darwin just took it way too literally. Also, "The Signal" is such an insabe trip. The theories of what was causing all the glitches were even crazier.

Whenever I rewatch “The Signal” episode, I look back on the theories I and many others had when connecting it with Pibby. Obviously, it was just wishful thinking since The Glitch has substantial differences, but it was still fun.

Ngl I think 'The Signal' might be one of my favorite episodes in Gumball, I just love when the show takes advantage of the fact that it has broken the 4th wall already and just gets creative with out of the box scenarios, like here with the entire conflict being thanks to tv issues and in 'The Money' (I think it was called) with Elmore becoming a storyboard/rough sketch thanks to the Watterson's not having money. Super creative and hilarious

“The Signal” is one of my personal favorites, as the characters are actually self-aware that the TV signal, for their show is glitching! Also, the “No driver” sequence one of the craziest parts in the show.

That could easily have been the final episode. Because, just like "The Inquisition," there's heavy implication that Gumball's world is a TV show that has to maintain its facade. It's kind of like the last episode of "Eerie, Indiana" where Marshall finding a TV script in the mail turns his reality into a behind-the-scenes tour of the actors who play his family and friends on the show...and how Dash X is going to take over his TV reality. In fact, Gumball did a similar episode where Gumball holding back his sarcasm turns his reality into a bad sitcom starring Tobias.

Episode 22 was the worst episode in the whole series. Considering this show is aimed at a really broad demograpic the lesson of "if you are in an absusive relationship jsut sit there and take it untill its over" its even dangerous. Also I love how consistently horrible Mr Small is. I didn't liked the ending of that episode, it would have been better if everything would have came crashing on top of him. The reality breaking episodes on Gumball are some of the best, and its even a little creepy.

And now, we have The Girlfriend, one of the most uncomfortable episodes of TAWOG. As The One & Only C. R. Martin put it: "During my first viewing of The Girlfriend, I was privy to the subtext of abusive relationships. Not that it wasn't there to begin with, but I was too annoyed by the cracks, the characters, and the narrative that it flew over my head. First and foremost, there's the issue of Jamie being too OP an antagonist, too one-note to carry an entire episode by herself, and above all else, a karma Houdini - three for the price of one - I love it! Except, not really. What's her deal? She doesn’t understand the concept of love? She can't distinguish between an insult and a compliment? Okay, whatever. But watching 11 minutes of this brainless bitch trying to process the simplest of things is tedious! And not once does the episode switch up on the humor at all; it's the same monotonous joke again and again and again. And this is the episode that's supposed to put Jamie in the spotlight? Her moment where sonmuch about her was discovered? Nope! Not even close, and no cigar. What's just as frustrating is the note the episode ends in. Gumball: 'You know, dude, all you had to do was keep your mouth shut and just say nothing.' Oh, piss off! I hate swerve endings like this, especially when they come after bad times such as this episode, and yeah, the aforementioned subtext that these shortcomings create is hard to ignore now that it's been brought to attention. Think Seahorse Seashell Party [Family Guy episode] on a diet. The Girlfriend's handling of the abusive relationship subject matter is bad, but I'd say that SSP has this marginally beat in its blatancy. (...)"

Its just a torture session for 11 minutes, and also, any kids watching who are actually in relationships like this, when Gumball says, "in a situation like this, say nothing." I thought the joke was Darwin was treating Jamie like a wild gorilla (a dangerous animal) and that doing nothing is obviously horrible advice? And at the end when gumball said Darwin should have said nothing it was supposed to be like ironic? Cause gumball did seem to tell Darwin through the episode how she’s bad and even said he could tell her he doesn’t like her through body language or something? That’s at least how I saw it; I actually don’t like that episode since I think there are a few episodes that does what this episode wants to do but better
