Gumball has to be one of the most iconic and Unique cartoons in his story. they mix elements of 2d, 3d and still shots of Live Photos, The comedy is goes from goofy, awkward, smart, to topical. And the writing is very well executed as well a developing some of the characters and personal arcs. Also The reason that Darwin calls Richard Mr. Dad is because He was adopted when gumball was 6 or 7. And rather than just calling him dad he just calls him Mr.Dad

Oh yeah! Darwin is a fish that was adopted. He became their (Gumball and Anais') sibling because he grew legs and could speak (two whole episodes showcase how Darwin became their sibling). Yknow TAWOG is one of my favourite cartoons it’s great. I’d love if you ever did watch the show again. Maybe watching like 5 episodes from each season could be a good way to get a better feel for what’s going on and it’s quality. (if you don’t feel like watching the entire show that is which would be understandable) I’d recommend watching the more story based/ lore developing ones to understand any important details that you aren’t aware of, or just some of the more popular episodes. (Personally Seasons 3 and 4 are some of the highest quality in the show.) Anyway enough rambling I’m glad you was able to enjoy even some of the more mediocre episodes of the series!

OK, this is gonna sound a little nerdy, but Darling was a fish that was in a black van by a shadow person. Richard was trying to find a replacement fish because gumball was such a wild kid that the parents couldn’t keep up with him. That’s when Darwin went into the picture. Darwin had a whole backstory on it, and one of the episodes , so I’ll basically cut it short. Darwin is a stepbrother to gumball. And Nise. The little sister. Gumball and NIE are the dad and mom‘s biological children. Wow on the other hand Darwin is not you can see that by looking at the characters and looks like her father gumball looks like her mother Darwin doesn’t look like any of them, but they still call him family which makes the show equally adorable as it already is.

I'm actually 90 percent sure Darwin is adopted(?) The term "stepbrothers" would imply that Darwin is the son of either Richard or Nicole, while Gumball is the son of the other, so they are not related by blood. But Darwin (last I checked) is not related to either parent. So, adoption.

When gumball was younger he was a wild child so his parents got him a fish but he kept on accidently killing them until the dad when inside a mysterious van and got a fish there this fish was different from other he could understand what gumball was saying and do tricks and even talk but when he got fluch away because he was playing dead and the dad thought he killed another fill. But when trying to get back home to them the connection that gamball and Darwin have give Darwin the ability to breath air and thwn give him leg's. So at the end he gets back home and they adopted him.
