This stuff works. It takes a lot of uses. I saw better idle and gas mileage after about 6-7 bottles

This is the honest truth, especially if there was significant build up. I'm testing another product and I'm on bottle #4. I should get up to 6 bottles or more before I post the video!

As a person that has spent a small fortune on gas station fuel system cleaners that turn out to be flops, I find this video and its level of detail quite beneficial. Can you please do a comparison video and assign effectiveness ratings to the cleaning products you have used?
@GreekLeonard2 жыл бұрын
I very much second the idea of a comparison video, pls do us the honour sometime in the near future. As for low octane fuel, I was curious abt what stations u bought from but u answering that question might probably amount to defamation. Generally I just stick with NNPC, Conoil and OandO.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Certainly, I'll be checking out other fuel system cleaners and doing before and after comparisons. Just to note that, because of how long it takes to do these kind of videos, it will take a bit of time to build up the comparisons...
@DIYAutoworksNG2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Video suggestion noted! You are spot on, on defamation, best to avoid naming for now. The most important thing is to use a proven fuel system cleaner on a schedule (e.g every oil change), since some carbon buildup is expected anyway. All the best!

@@DIYAutoworksNG Just an update, I used this product and drove til near empty. Then i ran a full tank of gasoline without any addictive's. I also change my engine oil before doing the test. The car drives smother and has better acceleration than before. However, The Cruising rage did not change after oil Change and adding the fuel Additive. It was 290 miles with full Tank of Gas before oil change and using the product. Typically after doing these things, it used consistently to give me 315-320 miles of rage in the past. It did not this time. And still showing 290 miles cruising range after doing oil change and using this Gumout Fuel system cleaner. I don't know what else could be the reason for it

You are better off soaking the combustion chambers with a solvent and then resoaking after with the gum out. Putting this product in the gas tank works best when you are trying to aid the fuel line and injectors.

It's possible. Do you have a CEL? Could also be a coincidence in the sense that you may have had a pending fault that just reached the threshold to trip a code. That's if you have a code though.

My car has the same issue and knocking sound is only heard after the compressor is turned on and the car is at low rpm. Does it has to do anything with the engine rebuild as mine was rebuilt
@DIYAutoworksNG2 жыл бұрын
Can't say for sure if it's to do with the rebuild, but I would imagine it could. If its mechanical, the knocking should rise with RPM though. Any codes? Faulty knock sensor, incorrect timing could are some other causes.

You are making the same mistake others do when doing these types tests. There is no magic potion that you can throw in your gas tank and it will remove thousands of miles and years of carbon build up. If you have ever dismantles an engine after 50 thousand miles or more especially if the owner did not do regular oil changes, the carbon is like concrete, you have to use a tungsten scraper or aggressive sand paper or wire brushes to remove it. All these products you should start using while your car is in good shape and it prevents carbon build up and keeps all the injectors clean. There is absolutely NO SUBSTITUTE for regular oil changes and good quality gas.
@DIYAutoworksNG Жыл бұрын
Well, I got this car this car used and don't much of an option or control over the practices of the prior owner. I definitely agree with the points you raised, however, not everyone lives in countries where tiers of gas are sold. The quality of gas that I have access to are really not that great.

Redline makes a really good fuel system cleaner, I've loved Gumout for years, used it a lot, never had a problem with it. Bought an 09 Honda Accord 200k miles, rated 30mpg, car got 21, did 3 tanks of this stuff, didn't help, tried a few other cleaners (car had very high fuel trim). Spent the $17 on Redline, main reason being high does of the same PEA cleaner, just far more concentrated, and first tank was 23mpg, the next was 25mpg, one after 25mpg, the last was 24mpg. Nothing else changed with the car, just has high mileage, but the redline helped where gumout didn't in this case. That +4mpg paid for the product already, and I'm very pleased with that. I've driven this car for 9 months, every tank prior to redline was 21mpg, every tank after has been noticeably higher, my only conclusion was high mileage car, had a lot of build up resulting in poor mpg, redline helped, where as my old favorites did nothing.

Thanks for this comment. I'll look to get some Redline S1!
@averyalexander2303 Жыл бұрын
Redline Sl-1 is great, it's one of the only fuel additives I've seen that's made enough of a difference to obviously improve or fix drivability problems. Recently used it in a friend's 1996 4Runner that ran so badly it would barely reach 30 MPH and would only run with very light throttle and it will now easily go 70 and runs well in normal driving. It still needs more work when we have time since it misfires under heavy loads which may or may not be related to the fuel system, but either way, the improvement in fuel trims and performance was incredible. Sl-1 is definitely expensive, but in that case, you definitely get what you pay for.

KYB is one of the OEM strut suppliers for Toyota and this brand is widely available. However, there are knockoffs. You just have to find the genuine dealer in the state you're in. Knock can also be a valve gap issue. Honda recommends adjusting the valves every 20-30K miles.
@DIYAutoworksNG2 жыл бұрын
I agree on improper valve clearance being a cause of knock, however, I've always known Honda to recommend valve check/adjustment at about 100k miles or if the valves are noisy. 20 - 30k seems too frequent.

@@DIYAutoworksNG GE Fit manual says 20-30K miles. Seems like some i-Vtec heads need valve adjustment at these mileages. I owned two Integras with DOHC Vtec and two NSXs with DOHC Vtec. I've never done valve adjustments on those engines and they ran just fine.
