Suppressors are simple devices. If you got rid of the serialization, red tape, and as they became more common the cost of a "can" would plummet. A semi-disposable can could be had for the 20 USD price point. I "high end" can would go for 100 USD - definitely under 200.

@@nightmaretrooper5064 the suppressor itself isn't that expensive. It is the regulatory paperwork that drives up the price. I noticed in Texas that most of the suppressors prices include the price of the FFL transfer cost as well as the cost of the tax stamp to own the suppressor. I live in Alaska and depending on the store you can find "bargain" prices that don't include these costs, but when added in make the suppressor the same price (if not slightly more) as the stores that include the costs in the price. I picked up a Ruger .22 suppressor for about $600 which included the NFA costs as well as the tax stamp, which means the suppressor itself cost about $160. I have suppressors for .22, .30, .38, and .45 (still waiting on my .50) and they were all reasonably priced when you take away the additional regulatory costs.

In my country (Norway) many encourage people to use a suppressor when hunting. It reduce the danger of hearing loss for you and your hunting buddy/dog and less noise pollution is good for the "civilians". It also reduces the recoil of your rifle and that increases your aim in most cases. A win win in any hunting situation in other words. We have today no regulation in buying a suppressor, but everything else is heavily regulated though :P

@@n3rc0s Excellent news for our French friends then! :) Literally there's nothing wrong with a suppressor, the gun still makes a pretty loud report, but low enough that if your ear pro is bumped off a bit just before the shot (such as shouldering the weapon too fast, knocking the ear pro off one ear) then you wont instantly go deaf.

I recently read a report that back in, I believe, 2015, the ATF Director of the NFA put into a report that 1.2 million suppressors are either privately owned, or law enforcement owned, not counting the suppressors used in the military only count for less than 1% of firearms crimes. He also noted that because over a period of time studied, because of the lack of crimes committed with suppressors, the fact that people are purchasing them for hunting, sporting, hearing protection, etc, he was going to recommend removing them from the NFA, based on the criminal element alone! Guess what didn't happen. I wish I could remember where I read the report to give it a proper siting. Because suppressors are an accessory to a firearm, depending on what way the bump stock law suit goes, if it goes south, it would make it easier for the government to outlaw suppressors. . . We need to keep fighting for our rights!

That's what I don't get, where I live suppressors doesn't even require you to be 18 or to have a license or anything, and that's saying something as we mostly don't even get to have semi-auto's except for sports shooting (and even then we have to document participation in x amount of events i.e document the need for a semi auto). A supressor is literally a baffled system packed into a tubular construction, that's all it is, it doesn't make the bullet go any faster (quite the contrary) or generate any more foot pounds of energy. If I were anti-gun, I'd focus on bump stocks and stuff of that nature, not suppressors.

I would love to get a suppressor but because of everything that we have to go through and how long it is, I just don't bother. It's not worth my time and trouble. I do think that they should be regular just like any other weapon that you go to buy. If you're qualified and pass a background to buy a weapon it should be the same background check for a suppressor.

As a Liberal who wants to see a universal healthcare system but (despises useless regulations) I am very Pro-2nd Amendment and own several of what they call "Assault Weapons" along with numerous other firearms. Many of us on the Liberal Pro-2A side of things are doing our part lobbying our state reps and federal politicians to stop the bans and instead to work with their Republican colleagues on improving our mental healthcare systems as a compromise and to develop non-violent conflict resolution courses in our public schools and colleges. We on the Pro-2A left want to address the root causes of violence instead of addressing the symptoms that only takes away our freedoms. So I am VERY glad that you made this video about being inclusive and bringing in everyone who is Pro-2A to develop bipartisan strategies to stop the attacks on our constitutionally protected rights. BTW... I love the hair! But I think the 80's wants it back. :P On the plus side it could get you a role on the show "Stranger Things". :)

In sweden the Riksdagen voted to remove the license requirement for supressors. So when that goes through (it might take a while) you can just buy a supressor over the counter with 0 delay. As it is now In sweden you need to apply for a license for the specific supressor you want (same kind of license application we have for guns and gunparts (barrels etc)). Also they can not be used on 22LR, 22WMR sort of rifles. This application takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 20 weeks depending what region you apply the license in. Where i live the turnaround for a application is 3 weeks and cost around 30-35 dollars. We also have limit of 4+2 weapons used for hunting. Those +2 require you to have a valid reason to own, so most just have 4 rifles/shotguns. But riksdagen voted to extend the wardrobe (as its called) to 6 guns with no special application. Those weapons are just for hunting, so they have to be of a certain kind and have limits - like 2+1 for automatic shotguns or 5+1 for bolt action rifles. You CAN own "ar-15" rifles in sweden to, semi automatic that is. You just need to be an active member in a club and it can take 1-5 years before you can apply for a license. But you cant use those rifles on those kind of "target shooting license" for hunting.
