“You don’t need an AR-15 for self defense.” That myth is one of the biggest imo. Easy rebuttal: Crimes (especially home invasions) are constantly committed by more than one person. Those extra rounds could definitely be needed depending on the threat.
@XXStrong14 жыл бұрын
Need is irrelevant when talking about self defense. To quote Colion Noir "In a home defense scenario, I'm not looking for a fair fight." I for one want every advantage to be at my disposal when it's my life or the life of someone I care about at stake. I have 30 rounds and the home invader only has 10? Great! Could I get the job done with less? Yes, but why would I want to?
@williamreynolds34874 жыл бұрын
@@XXStrong1 but to just say you “want every advantage” is not enough for these people. That’s why I brought up a specific scenario that happens quite a lot where you could absolutely NEED more than 10 rounds. They don’t care what you want. Actually, they don’t really care at all what we have to say; I don’t even know why we try.
@ryanlukens92804 жыл бұрын
But just ask Joe Red Coat Biden. You only need a double barrel shotgun. Just fire a round in to the air to scare them off. That way you only have on round left to disable everyone else. I mean the McClosky’s (sp?) in St Louis didn’t need all 30 rounds in the AR to defend themselves against several “peaceful protestors” that were so meek they were only able to ALMOST destroy a wrought iron gate. I hope we can all “hear” the sarcasm in my comments.

How about a couple more AR myths: “AR-15’s look evil and scary.” Well guess what, the AR looks are no different than pretty much any gun in general, and AR’s are actually simple and beautiful guns for almost any application. “AR-15’s are complicated to maintain.” Well guess what, AR-15’s are actually simple to use and maintain. For instance, even a first time gun owner can start with an AR.

Regarding the issues in Vietnam Colt had hyped up the gun as "self-cleaning" and the military believed them when they bought them, which is why they didn't issue cleaning kits at first. They quickly found that wasn't true, which issue was exasperated by the military using different ammo than what Colt had specified without testing the change. They subsequently issued cleaning kits and changed the ammo and the guns then performed for the rest of the conflict. Every attempt to replace the AR in military service since then has failed as every design tested hasn't been better. Except the Marines which are currently transitioning to the HK 416, a piston AR that is more than 90% compatible with standard AR parts.

Yes too low powered for hunting. It isn't even designed to kill people. It's designed to incapacitate them. Other than the full auto and weight reasons that was a major reason countries moved from .30 calibre rifles to intermediate rifles. They were less bothered about 1 shot kills because it was actually an advantage to injure rather than kill because then other men in that squad would have to deal with their injured colleague.

The Army standard for the M4 is 4cm (roughly 1.5 inches) at 25 meters. If you think about it, that's about 5-3/4 MOA! Quick math: 25m = 27.3403yd 100yd / 27.3403yd = 3.657 4cm = 1.574in 1.574in(at 25m) x 3.657 = 5.756in at 100yd = 5.756 MOA If you can shoot 5-3/4 MOA or better in the "prone-supported" position, you meet the U.S. Army standard for M4.
@jmart01894 жыл бұрын
Just a small gripe about the math. If you're going to split hairs and go that far into the calculations using that many decimal points, you might as well use the minute of angle measurement at 100yds with the same number of decimal points. The 1" @100yds is rounded down very slightly as it's close enough for nearly all practical uses.

Rack grade guns that get shot a ton have to have loose requirements. Civillian ar15s are known to be superior for accuracy. I like 223 over 5.56 for the accuracy increase
@trapperscout20464 жыл бұрын
@@jonmeray713 In my opinion, the 5-3/4 MOA Army standard is a low standard. But, anyone that can manage to do at least that much should be able to hit a man-sized target anywhere on the body out to 300 yards. If an AR-15 doesn't shoot sub MOA, it doesn't mean that it's a junk rifle. An inexpensive Palmetto State Armory AR-15 or a Smith and Wesson M&P15 that can shoot 2 to 3 MOA is good enough accuracy for most applications in my opinion.

Gun control is about racism and slavery This Patriotic Veteran approves this mesg Gun deaths There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.00925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death: • 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws. • 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified. • 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons - better known as gun violence. • 3% are accidental discharge deaths. So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation. • 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago • 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore • 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit • 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years) So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause. This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1. Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths. Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals. But what about other deaths each year? • 40,000+ die from a drug overdose-THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT! • 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths. • 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide). Now it gets good: • 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital! • 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................ Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple: Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace. Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs. So the next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, look at these facts and remember these words from Noah Webster: "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed." What ever happen to up hold the Oath of office to protect and up hold the CONSTITUTION of the USA....NOT MAKE YOUR OWN RULES/LAWS...

From what I’m seeing on the internet nowadays is that SOF guys or as they’re named USSOCOM are actually starting to use 11.5” or 12.5” for close combat missions, depending on the mission and other factors so... I think 11.5/12.5” are becoming the new hotness because of that and because of the gain in velocity that you can get from adding 1 or 2 more inches to the barrel length.
