Two real life situations that happened to me. First one was in NJ with a compliant AR15 I owned. Had a stranger walk up to me on the firing line and tell me it was illegal to own that "weapon" in NJ. I proceeded to ask why its illegal and if he's a lawyer or a LEO? He replied he was not and it was illegal just because it is....I ignored him and finished up my range session. Second situation was at a public range in Delaware where I was test firing a friends 10/22 that I just installed a new bullpup stock on it. I was only planning on firing 50 rounds, so I had 5 10 round mags ready to go. I was firing slowly, allowing the trigger to reset then pressing off another round. The "Range officer" came screaming over at me yelling "ONE ROUND A SECOND!!!!" I stopped, looked at him and said I was doing that. He said do it again and your out of here! So I loaded up a fresh mag and ran it as fast as I could! I looked at him and said now that's rapid fire! I packed up and left. Never went back lol
@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena2 жыл бұрын
I don't understand the 1 round a second thing especially if you are actually training and practicing fundamentals as you are never going to just fire 1 round per second unless the recoil for long guns was high or the muzzle rise on handguns was high mostly on polymer frame guns as not enough weight to it as the weight is all on the heavy slide
@mikefarmer4748 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena Although I get it, maybe, sort of, the concern, black or white rules just don't work. It's like holster draw rules or any of that kind of stuff. It's like some of these ranges never heard of competition shooting. Well that requires practice and training.
@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena Жыл бұрын
@@mikefarmer4748 Hell even if you are practicing for self defense you need to fire 3 rounds per second at center mass. Which in order to do that and not accidently 8 rounds one needs to train as high stress situation so they can be aware how many shots they fired while under adrenaline

You have to understand though that there are also a lot more gun owners than there used to be, many of them just buying a firearm for the first time, and by a lot more I mean numbers and sales have tripled just in the last few years. Of those new shooters, many are unfortunately very, very ignorant of shooting and gun safety and need supervision because they go to the range without ever having fired a shot and without any idea of how to safely handle a firearm. I understand that it's frustrating for a veteran shooter to have to put up with, but once you've been muzzle flashed by some giggling airhead who has no clue she's one hiccup away from putting a round in someone on the range line because she doesn't understand the importance of keeping her weapon pointed down-range, you start to understand why they need those rules and why they want to enforce them.

CSB time regarding range nah-tsees. My sub pulled into Faslane Naval Base in Scotland about the time a lot of the post 9/11 changes were taking effect. Part of this included arming the nuclear operators (because nothing says "national security" more than giving guns to a bunch of 19-25 year old autistic kids). Our weapons department coordinated with the Brits to get some range time to get us qualified on the Mk 60 and M16. The only rule they gave us was "try to keep under three round bursts." Thanks to the combination of alphabetical order and my last name, I was up first on the Mk 60. I shot competition smallbore for years, and have a very set routine for shooting from prone. So I'm laying there behind the 60, walking through my routine in my head as I go: "sight.... grip... aim... breathe... squeeze... breathe... follo........ wait, why is the gun still shooting? OH, SHEET! RELEASE!" The whole ordeal was maybe 3 or 4 seconds, but that was enough to stay on target, completely destroy the stand behind the target, and catch the paper on fire from the tracers. Weps guy was laughing his ass off, calling me an "effin nuke" among other things, and telling me to get up and get back. Not 15 more seconds later, a humvee skids to a stop in the parking lot and an British MP jumps out shouting "WHAT IN BLOODY HELL ARE YOU COWBOY YANKS DOING?" Thanks to my couple second burst, the Brits decided that we were no longer welcome on their range.

15:02 - I agree, it's not just the 2A community. I think it's society in general. For example, people have commented on my videos asking if my project car is road legal. Why do they care? If it wasn't road legal (which it is), do they plan to turn me in to the DMV? Or are they just being nosy?

Well, when the glass is half-full: Maybe they want to know if they can copy you and still keep it on the road.

They would come over to my gun lane and ask me why I'm shooting "The Liberator" 3D printed gun at a gun range. My answer would be, "to practice for when I need to use it 😁"

I once saw a "safety nazi" argument nearly devolve into a full on shootout, at a certain notoriously unsafe shooting range. Probably the most uncomfortable I had ever been around guns. Like some people have way too much ego attached into being a "hall monitor"

This makes me really happy that I go to a private range. I couldn't tolerate random people questioning me. I do agree with the "much Ado about nothing" point but I think it's a testament to how far some gun owners will go to follow the law and how difficult and confusing it can be to do that. Like the guy freaking about the suppressor paperwork. He's probably just super paranoid about breaking any laws. Everybody knows they intentionally make gun laws a legal minefield. I've watched so many videos and read so much to try and be educated. I don't wanna end up in the clink because I didn't ask questions. Also don't use notes for your show. I like the format you're using. It's more realistic.

So I can agree with this at the outset, BUT here's my caveat. When you have a person just ripping rounds at a banner sized target and bullet strikes are all over, and they're just making noise and hitting the ceiling, that's not ok. If you rapid fire and hit your target, fine. I was at an indoor recently teaching my mother to shoot her AR, she kept flinching horribly while these idiots were rapid firing a .300 BLK and hitting the ceiling. So I brought out my 10.5 with a brake and taught them the true meaning of loud, and after that they stopped. Rapid fire is fine. But if you're being an idiot and your muzzle is climbing uncontrolled, you deserve to be told to knock it off.

I say this while at a range with anyone else there don't get sucked into your optics and forget to keep mindful of others and keep your head on a swivel not to be a negative nacy towards the others but mindful if they keep pointing the gun towards you or others you can't make others be as safe as yourself so watch out for your own safety that's all
