Gotta love it when Bill Wilson makes a special model just to honor you. Ken Hackathorn must be one heckuva good friend.

I have six Wilson 1911’s in .45..... These are by far my favorite guns to shoot, carry, etc. After owning dozens and dozens of hand guns I dumped them all for Wilson’s. However, the only guns I’ve ever regretted dumping were my SIG-P220’s. In the past decade I’ve acquired six of those, as they are extremely safe, reliable, accurate, and fun to shoot. But nothing compares to my Wilson .45’s. Thanks!

The Sig P220 is a masterpiece for a factory mass production handgun. I have a W. German and it's accuracy is uncanny. Reliability is top shelf.

i also own several model 1911's, and a couple of Sig -P220's and a lot of Smith&Wesson Revolvers and several Rugers and other brands. but i carry one of my 1911S A FEW DAYS THEN SOMETHING ELSE, IT BREAKS UP THE BOREDOM OF CARRYING JUST ONE KIND EVERYDAY.

Gee, I sure can relate to this. After more than 5 decades of shooting, the 9mm 1911 commander has become my favorite. With a nice collection over the years with prices from Wilson, Ed Brown, and Nighthawk my favorite range gun is a all steel 9mm commander and a light weight version for carry. But to be perfectly honest, many times I do not want to put on all this gear for a quick trip to the store, and will slip a micro 9mm in my pocket, in a holster of course. P.S. I love these videos too.

Age is incumbent on us all. At 66 I find myself with a tiny pocket gun most. A Kel Tec P32 in the front pocket; bought when it was the best for size the industry offered. Buffalo Bore +P solid lead flat point in a Remora pocket holster. My how time flies.

I have a decent collection as well. Some STI 2011s and Colt 1911s and a few S&Ws 686 and 27. The one I carry most of the time is my Colt Combat Commander 45ACP in stainless. It's about 20 years old. Had a trigger job and an accuracy job as well done on it with a crowned barrel. And the old girl is just a tac driver. Don't shoot it much anymore. But I just carry it always. Big fan of the show. No presumptuous comments or attitudes.

Never had a Wilson. Maybe someday. I carry and shoot what I have, otherwise, it goes to someone who will carry and shoot it. I know too many guys with $3K plus 1911's who do not shoot them, and it makes me sad. Love the Lightweight Commander in 45 Auto, great choice Ken!

@Corey Gray My carry gun is a Wilson .45 Commander. If you ever get one, you'll love it!!!

Ken is a wealth of knowledge. If I could afford a top tier 1911 it would be a Wilson Combat.

Chambers custom is also on the list, but I’ll be able to afford a Wilson far sooner than a Joe Chambers gun.

It has a lot going for it. I'm a dyed in the wool 1911 guy when it comes to autoloaders and I thoroughly enjoy my 9mm variants. A Ruger Lightweight Officer's Model is my regular CCW.

I've experienced the same thing. All those rounds of Keith 44 mag and 300 win mag have taken their toll. I prefer a model 19 shooting 38 wadcutter of my own recipe, a commander 1911 in 9mm, and a bolt gun in 243 these days. Thanks to Mr. Wilson and Mr. Hackathorn for not being afraid to advocate for the 9mm in 1911.

All my 1911s are .45ACP, and I own 4 Sig Sauer P320s that are 9mm, including my CC handgun which I use with 17rd magazines loaded with 9mm 147gr jhp.

AH HAH, the Milt Sparks 1AT is what you wear. I too love my 5" Vickers Elite in 9mm, but since acquiring a Vickers Elite 4.25" Commander all steel, I am shooting it more.

Should your carry gun be a gun that you don't shoot a lot? If you practice with 9mm more shouldn't that be what you carry? I know adrenaline will compensate for a stouter cartridge, but as a best practice, shouldn't you carry what you shoot?

Ruger 1911 LW Commander,Glock 21SF,S&W Shield 45acp.Dont laugh a Canik SF Elite,over a 1000 rounds no malfunctions.My only 9mm.Not for carry but my favorite revolvers S&W 686,M25-5,625.

These two have shot more rounds than most people and that has taken its toll. it would be interesting to ask, if they didn't have the hand issues would they still prefer a 9mm?
@John19114 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, 9mm is the future of the 1911. Single stack or double stack. I carried 45 caliber 1911s on the street for 19 years. I have zero interest in them anymore. A single stack 9mm 1911 is a hoot and I can burn down the wonder 9 shooters without being held back by 45 recoil. Regards, Marky

I won't be snarky in my comments like some others, but the Glock just isn't the best fit for many people. It's a terrific design, an excellent example of simplicity. But some don't like the way it fits and points in their hands. (That would be me.) Others dislike the trigger action. For others it can be something as simple as aesthetics. As good as it is, the Glock isn't pleasant to the eye. I'm sure folks have other reasons but these seem to be the most common. Ain't it great we have so many excellent choices? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

1911 in 9mm? Sounds like he like the 1911 so much but cant handle the 45 any more or not good enough. Otherwise there is no reason for a 1911 in 9mm.
