I had the pleasure of shooting several rifles and handguns in Florida last year. Really enjoy it, shame the UK gun laws are so strict in comparison, could never own most of what I shot in the states! God I miss Florida already. Would love to move to the USA, every time I go there, I have a great time and enjoy some epic freedom. Happy 4th of July my American brothers and sisters. 😊

One thing about the AR-15 that I didn't hear them say, they come in SOOOO many different calibers/cartridges. 223/5.56, 300aac, 6.5 Grendel, 50 Beowulf, 350 Legend, the list goes on. This makes it very versatile since the uppers can be swapped so easily.

Not to mention the lower is the only serialized part, so different calibers, lengths, or just different configurations can be purchased assembled and shot on the same lower without having to do more paperwork or background checks for separate rifles

For those looking for a decent first AR and Handgun, look up the Palmetto State Armory PA-15 and Dagger. They are the two most widely available weapons platforms on the US market. The PA15 comes in multiple configurations, and sometimes if you buy the upper and lower separate, you can catch a deal to get 10x 30rd magazines with the upper receiver. As for the Dagger, it has recently gotten a lot of attention due to PSA utilizing the Glock 19 Gen 3 design and making a reliable pistol for a fraction of the cost (the trigger is the main corner-cut, but it works fine and is easily replaced for a better trigger unit). On top of that, the Dagger comes available with a threaded barrel and cut outs for red dot sights. (And sometimes even comes with a Holosun red dot pre-installed)

Yep. I’m one those guys in the comments who went through basic training (at Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot, Parris Island, in 1986) The Corps produces some of the best marksmen in the military. I grew up hunting and was familiar with long guns when I got to PI. We spent a full 7 days, sunup to sundown, in 100 degree heat, learning how to “snap-in.” That’s USMC-speak for learning how to use your sling and body to make yourself (literally) the most stable shooting-platform possible. It works. I was a good shooter when I got to PI but I was an exceptional shooter when I left. I was awarded the Leatherneck Marksmanship Award, I was meritoriously promoted to PFC, and I was offered a slot to sniper school. I was the high-shooter in a class of 470 men. I could put 9 out of 10 shots into the “head” of the man-sized target at 500 yards, with IRON SIGHTS, and the 10th shot landed in the throat so that “enemy target” was gone with any of the 10 shots. I’m 60 years old now. I have trouble SEEING a target at 500 yards, and you have to keep shooting, every chance you get, or you will get worse and worse. Shooting, at least high-level shooting, is a very perishable skill! 🫡 Semper Fi. Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel. It’s become a crazy world out there.

At 15:30 ish when you have the rifle with the eotech on it, keep your other eye open. Holographic sights are designed for that. You don't want your dominant eye to focus on the reticle, but what's beyond it

I love this video series! It answers a lot of questions for people new to guns! I grew up around guns but have really been getting into firearms pretty deep the last two years. I absolutely love my AR pistol but have not shot it much since the pistol brace rule went into affect. I refused to register it as a SBR and it’s just not as much fun to shoot without the brace. I actually just purchased a Scar 16 because I wanted another gun calibered in 5.56 and I am LOVING IT!! It’s so much fun decking it out, just need to decide if I want to go with the EOTech optic/magnifier or the Trijicon Acog 🤔

Massad ayoob championed the 20ga. for a long time. You get roughly 3/4 of the load and recoil at roughly the same velocity as a 12 gauge. Great for smaller stature or recoil averse people.

I found that shooting 30-06 when your new really helps. If you get used to the recoil on that then 9mm and 556 is nothing.
