The message that he fails to get from the majority of folks buying "normal" hammer spurs are that folks want that single action ability to make more precise shots at longer ranges. But he doesn't get that. Yes double action will be used the most but when a hammer is bobbed that single action ability is gone. People that want a sub 25oz .357 with one less round than a .38 of the same size and weight are the exact people who would want a hammer on a defensive revolver lmao
@thorshammer51349 ай бұрын
I disagree. The 357 in the 3” with optic is about the perfect lightweight sidearm when bow hunting or light through hiking in mountains. The 3” brings back a substantial amount of ballistics, shoot-ability, packs easy and light, and if running proper ammo is capable of defense against any creature outside of Alaska. Underwood 357 hardcast get about 600ft lbs of energy out of the small 3” barrel and drive deep. Switch to 158 grain semi wad cutters for edc, the 1 round isn’t making a difference in most circumstances and if you are making the capacity argument then you aren’t carrying a revolver most likely. Still a great edc option due to versatility. There is a big difference between 38 and 357 even in a 2” barrel. About 200ft lbs of energy for most ammo options. A few are outliers buffalo bore and underwood. I carry Kieth 158 grain +p lead semi wad cutters in my 38. They get around 400 ft lbs of energy out of the 1.8” 442. Great ballistics with a proven history of 1 shot stops in police use. Accurate out to 25 yards. Every one thinks differently and has their own opinions. I do agree anyone who wants a hammer for self defense is just wrong and doesn’t have training or experience. But for a range toy it’s different. Options are good.
@SWMissouriOutdoors3 күн бұрын
Im not seeing how a hammer spur is gonna snagging more than a big red dot hanging on the top... you can train around either one. Maybe even easier with the hammer spur by thumb over hammer draw technique.

I have a 327 federal SP101 with the 3.18 inch barrel and it pushes the 104 gr HST to 1330 and the weight of it holds it down to comfortable level. I don't like that people are compromise their gun choice to buy a small gun and then hang dot sites, lights and lasers, making it bigger than a real size gun and much more prone to snags. I prefer a bigger gun with good night sights and hundreds in my pocket. or the smallest practical gun without the tech hanging off of it.

Fourth brand new unacceptable Taurus revolver in a row, received just two days ago. I bought the very gun you presented here, most specifically for the caliber. In fact, I just happened to also buy the new RP63 Rossi the week before. The RP63 is most definitely a better gun. (To whatever degree Rossi remains "separate" from Taurus, they should remain so distanced.) Taurus cannot possibly represent a potential good influence for them. I own two Rossis now, both excellent, after trigger improvement. Both new guns needed trigger work. The Rossi was typically too heavy, but succumbed to better springs. The Taurus was ridiculously too heavy. No, wait... my previous three Taurus revolvers were ridiculously heavy. The 327 TORO went well beyond ridiculous, all the way to utterly inexcusable. In slow DA pull, one chamber simply refused to fire, at all. The other five would fire, but were simply unusable! This TORO was an out-of-the-box joke in DA! Why does Taurus use such absurdly heavy springs??!!! Why does your quality control continue to remain (all these years) so horrible?!!! You have some good ideas, but your execution absolutely STINKS!!! And I know you are test firing only a single chamber, instead of all of them. And probably not in DA, either. Your guns are severely substandard and the really sad thing is, they don't have to be. The designs are good, save for the really stupid idea of eliminating the traditional S&W style trigger return mechanism. Taurus needs to clean up their act!!!
