in today's video, I harvest my yummy gungo peas, them show you an easy way to shell the peas, then separate and store the dried peas versus the green peas

Gandules Pigeon peas are absolutely the freaking best! Not only are they nitrogen fixer for the soil but they are also full of proteins!!

Ian took my tree down it was broken. 😞 I harvested a lot of it and gave some away to a friend and she hated shelling them. She wanted me to do the work and give her the peas. Oh, no! 😁 I have planted two more trees and they're growing well. One now has buds but has a little bit of damages on the top due to the frost. Good job Pat! 👍

you should plant corn or pearl millet around these shrubs. Because they are legume the growth of the corn and pearl millet is more quick and good harvest.

@backyardfarmerpat Awesome, thank you. I picked some more of ours yesterday and left some on the plant...it's our first year but I want to plant a lot more. I didn't know if now or spring would be best. 😀

@@cowgrlmeg happy it helped. Will you leave them on the tree to dry for spring planting?
@cowgrlmeg10 ай бұрын
@backyardfarmerpat yes, I picked a lot to plant in spring, I may leave a few over winter, it appears the deer have found them... so they maybe planting more for me. 😆 🤣 😂

Do not leave the dried peas on the tree; the stifle the production of the tree. The tree will produce less peas! After two years you get diminishing returns.
@backyardfarmerpat Жыл бұрын
The cold killed them. I replaced this year
@blaqfish Жыл бұрын
Do you have to plant them every year? I didn't know that you only get one harvest from them and so I would have to pull up the bust that is over six feet to replant ... Ugh
@backyardfarmerpat Жыл бұрын
In South Florida they lasted years. Here they died but maybe it was just my soil. Try and see how long yours last
@hungryfortruthhelpmate7 ай бұрын
They last up to 5 years and grow back the next season. They grow in spring summer and fall
