My wife bought me a 77/22 the first year of production. God only knows how many thousands of rounds have been fired in this rifle. Many weeks it’s had 2-300 or more rounds fired. 50 yd. Groups are under 1 inch. 100 yd. Groups are 1.25 inches for 10 shots. Little 2x7 Weaver Wide-View scope. Just a pure pleasure to handle, carry and use in the woods and fields and forests.

Good review. I just acquired one, newer model, screwed in barrel, composite stock. Still a solid rifle.

I purchased an M77/22 new in 1989. Love the gun, but have shot it very little. I shot a 1/4 inch group three shots. And I also have a 7/16 inch group with five shots. Both at 50 yards. I used RWS ammo. This was back in 1991. Still have the targets. All I did was add a cheap tasco scope to it.

I still have mine that I purchased in 1985 According to Ruger's website using my serial number it was the manufactured the very first year of production 1984 (36 Years Old!)

A beautiful rifle!! I recently acquired one but I am having trouble with the magazine. Each round gets caught before feeding into the chamber. I am so disappointed. If anyone has any advice, I am happy to listen. Thank you !

Do you know when they discontinued the 77/22?

They discontinued them just before they introduced its replacement the American Rimfire. I've had my American Rimfire since 2013 when it was introduced in the late summer.
