As far as I'm aware, the T-80 was never deployed to Afghanistan and saw it's combat debut in the First Chechen War. The USSR did not deploy top-of-the-line equipment to a remote location with little strategic value.

Yes, you are right. I must've been sleep deprived or something, because I swear I had a source claiming operation in Afghanistan, but now I can't find that source anymore. I think I may have had a T-72 article open in my browser while making this video and accidentally used the wrong browser tab, thinking I was reading about the T-80 instead.. My bad, but thanks for your correction!

8:33 looks like you were on the back slope of a small hump in the ground, so barrel depression is indeed the likely reason your tank wouldn't let you fire. Driving up a bit changed your angle and resolved it. Also that snap-shot that flew wide right was because the FCS has always-on lead and needs 1 second on target to gain full accuracy, whether the target is stationary or moving.

The T-80 and T-72 were never meant to replace the T-64 They were products from other Soviet design beuros which is a whole other story that got adopted for varying reasons. The T-64B came into service the same year the T-80 sans suffix (The Sans Suffix lacks any laser rangefinding equipment) did and the T-72A (laser range finder) in 1978 and the T-80B with it.

The Bradley in the AAR that you killed was a bradley in the CFV configuration (Cavalry Fighting Vehicle) which has more TOW missiles onboard at the expense of having 3 dismounts. if it was in the IFV configuation, you would have at least enough rounds to fire 2 times but have 6 dismounts

A and B points are supposed to be your Support By fire Points for OBJ Anton. If you look at where both points are, they are conducting overlapping fields of fire into OBJ Anton. Those two points are not control points or enemy objectives. Me being an experience tank commander, I questioned why you would CFF on the small houses a second time when you can physically see if there was enemy forces prior to pushing towards it. you got 0 BDA for the first mission. the second is the fact that you was sky lining yourself to the enemy when you shouldve taken the western side of the road which was the lowest area and moved in a staggered column formation so that you can cover your sides as well. conducting a danger close fire mission and then going into it just cost you a tank which you cannot afford to lose a big gun. If anything, The BMP's couldve went defilade and fired their AT-5's at M60's.

Thank you very much for your detailed response, I really appreciate it! As you may have noticed, I'm not experienced in armored warfare but I am trying to learn, so comments like yours are very helpful! As for the double arty, that was more of a "rather safe than sorry" measurement. If the first arty didn't destroy any possible ATGM installations, than the second one would. I've been playing GHPC for a while now and I know the devs like to hide those things. So just because you didn't see it prior from a longer distance, doesn't mean it's not there. The reason why I drove through the second arty was simply because I didn't think it would spread as much as it did. Obviously in real life with real risks, one would be more careful with danger close arty, but in a videogame these risks tend to be less of an issue. Lastly, the only reason why I stopped in the arty, was because of that point blank M60 tank that appeared right in front of us. If I would have kept driving while engaging that M60, than his buddies in the treeline in the back would have taken us all out.

The Soviets have to be my favourite, and the quality and power of the T-62, T-64A and T-80B is on another level - definitely gives you the sense of power they would have had in the Fulda area in 1985! I've been getting all sorts of weird crashes with this mission, I wonder if the memory leaks are back? just like before it doesn't start happening until my team starts spotting and firing at multiple targets, I'll have to check and see what my GPU/CPU are doing in that scenario. that unpleasantness aside, man is it good to see this game moving at such a quick pace, not only is it easier to fight multiple targets in the T-80B it's also got a slightly better reverse speed which made going in and out of the firing position way easier. idk if you've played around in the night sight in a training mission yet but I was experiencing all sorts of weirdness, seems to me like the sensitivity of the night sight is way higher than the day sight. even with the kinks this update slaps! suppose we're just waiting on the ATGM ammo & the leopard now.

But I doubt they will change anything about the current physics, which do seem to be mostly correct and accurate as far as I can tell. I do hope they'll change the tracers though because they are a bit over the top. Don't get me wrong, they are realistic enough during 1x speed. Not really, T-80UD was more of a side-branch of development. Kharkiv tank plant was big into their 6TD diesel, so they made a version of T-80 with it to replace T-64. Normal gas turbined T-80s kept being produced until 1998. After the fall of USSR Russia stuck with the normal T-80, while Ukraine stuck with the T-80UD because they got the plant that was producing engines for it. Russia, on the other hand abandoned them quickly. T-80UD was later developed by Ukraine into T-84 and the rest is history.

It's kinda wild, they use lost-wax casting and manual fitting of parts. @@JRBKanal Well, I suppose long story short, KZbin prefers those who put effort in, not only their video content, but everything around it too. Every little detail in KZbin matters. You can have the most amazing video in the whole wide world, but if you don't put a custom thumbnail on your video, select the wrong tags, have a boring title or whatever, nobody will see the video. And also, I don't have expensive hardware, aside from the PC (which is only expensive because I do professional 4K editing on it). I suppose the mic can be on the pricy side, which is a Røde NT-USB, but I bought mine second hand. You really don't need to spend a lot of money on hardware for KZbin. Most mics will do, as long as you set them up correctly. What matters most of ALL is how you set your video up. Thumbail, title, tags, etc. These are the things that help the algorythm guide people to your videos. I recommend looking up guide videos on the KZbin algorythm.
