HAHAHA! I WAS 17 when this came out!! My senior year of high school, my buddy and I saw them open for Motley Crue on the "Girls, Girls, Girls" tour ... from the 10th row of floor. No one had heard of GNR at that point, when we first got the tix, were expecting Aerosmith to be the opener, and was like WTF band is this. But they blew us away. I still remember much of their set list ... "Paradise City", "Welcome to the Jungle ", "Mr. Brownstone" and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and also Slash was trashed, LOL (he brought a bottle of Beam on stage, said he wasn't supposed to do that, "So this might be the last Guns-n-Roses concert"). My buddy was so impressed with them he bought their tape the next week. It would be over a year before anyone knew who they were. Oh those were some halcyon days!!

They all have had a lot of rough waters. It didn't become smooth sailing just because they hit it big. Keep in mind ALL of them were hard core drug addicts and severe alcohol abusers, if not fill blown alcoholics. FAAK - it's hard enough holding it together as a little bity nobody in the world just tryna keep your place as a cog in the wheel. Imagine the added strain of millions of dollars riding your shoulders all the time because it's not just one of theirs problem. If one loses grip, the band and all of then support people lose out when tours or shows are canceled or you don't show for an import public appearance or show up with a blown mind etc etc....* sorry. Didn't mean to fall into a babbling tangent. ONE more thing- having stated some of the incredible pressure of being an internationally known celebrity - I would ABSOLUTELY 💯 do it if the opportunity came my way!! Plenty of rock stars and movies stars handle it c&s, more DO than don't.

When he was in his prime there was nobody better, the guy is the best frontman in American rock history, pure chaos and electricity wherever he goes until this day, has stood onstage with heavyweights like Elton John and Queen and was always the guy you watched, you cannot teach that, and a voice that nobody could match or drown out.

@@suzesiviter6083, How was Axl struggling? Did you attend this concert, in person? Axl sounds incredible, Live. Judging his voice, from on-line recorded videos is unfair & does not do his voice, any justice. To all those people thinking it's drug use that effected Axl's voice... Axl was VERY anti-drug when GnR starting blowing up around 90-93, so it's not drugs/drinking that zapped has voice... you just grow out of being able to screech like that. He likely shredded his vocal cords when he was younger, to deliver those legendary performances. He just physically can't do it any more. I think Axl has earned the right to take it easy and sing in a softer register. And those comparing Axl to James Hetfield... Hetfield only ever yell-sang... Axl had more than twice his range (5 octaves), so it's not a fair comparison. Axl had one of the widest ranges of any rock singer ever. You have to know some facts.
@cherylnelson35542 жыл бұрын
I would listen to Metallica over these anyway.
@Thomas-fk3cw2 жыл бұрын
Axl in his own words said he dabbled in coke and heroin for years. But he never let it become an every day habit. Still, those are heavy drugs. But agree, drugs aren't reason for vocals deteriorating for him. Vocal cords age. Some peoples' cords deteriorate faster than others.
@nannettefreeman73312 жыл бұрын
Robin Zander, 69, huge range & a screamer too, easily 90% of what he was in 1978, & performing 200-250 nights a year. No smoking or drugs, just a bit of a 🍷-O. There's a right way to scream & a wrong way. Technique is paramount. 🏁✌🏼

Did they down tune here? For some reason his voice sounds like it's in a lower pitch.

Baritone is Axl's natural voice.

Guns and roses without the energy of youth, is like humans without oxygen. This is first time i have this song since early 1990s. Fair play to them for still going, but its so weird to see axl, without his explosive energy he used to do his shows with. His voice is so weak now. This was an amazing song back when they first did it, but man axl sings it so weakly now, its lost so much of its beauty. Like i said fair play to them if there is a market for them still, but if you knew what guns and roses were like before nirvana cam on scene, they were amazing.

Your right is voice is weaker. But you have to understand that now iys not about the voice, it's about being Able to see these guys live.

There is still a huge market for GnR shows, just look at how well received & successful their recent tours have been, since 2016. I have been a huge GnR fan since 1990 & throughout the years. I am still a huge fan. True, GnR are no longer an angry band. They are no longer the most dangerous band in the world. However, that does not mean they are any less awesome than they've always been. Axl (and the rest of the band) still have tons of energy, during their live shows. Happy, fun energy. Judging Axl's vocals from on-line recordings does not do his voice any justice. Attend a live concert, at a really good venue & have good tickets, to be able to experience how awesome Axl still is, Live. He is no longer in his 20's, or 30's obviously, but he still knocks it out of the park, many times over :)

I remember a more lively Axl Rose on stage, a few years ago now. Also he seems to be playing it safe with his vocals, as I remember he used to scream more in this song. Especially toward the end of it.
