I would put the encounter area on ground level, slightly recessed into the wall, that way they can't dig underneath you. I would also put electric wiring across the front in 2 levels, with the poles oriented so that you could fix them from your defensive point. Blade traps at 4 high so the 3x3 area covers just above the wires, hitting any zombies that try to stack. A 2x3 of dart traps on a tunnel into the opposite wall, 20 some blocks away, so the max range terminates just before your iron bars. Two layers of fabricated blocks as bars, upgraded to concrete or steel. The main area 7 blocks tall, so if any zombie detonates, it doesn't take out the roof. Two of the junk fist things, at the corners of your defensive position. Pointing inwards, so that they stun and push together the zombies coming towards the bars. The anti bird stuff at the top, I would place at the corners facing inward and slightly up. So they couldn't shoot each other and had overlapping fields of fire. This part is conjecture, but for the hole itself, I would put overlapping electric wire just underneath the cookies. They may fall long enough, that the electricity damage will reset when it hits the lower wires already installed. That's all that comes to mind right now, but I'm sure I could think of more.

I never really thought about it until now, about people make all these fancy bases. But me and my friend we are on like day 90 and we still use the same barn we used on day 7, even though we did beef it up most of the original structure is there. We just have maze of bars leading to ladders and stairs up that then funnels them towards us with a sledge turret that shoves them off as they come so they go back through the maze as we just open up with shotguns
@Wolftatze2 жыл бұрын
Arguably the most fun, having a base that just expands naturally. It DOES come at the cost of being not as easy (or hands-off) to defend on Blood Moon, but it is so satisfying any other time. We were on a server with four players at the time, and we had gotten our hands at an old estate on the edge of a town. Basically, 2 stories, an attic, nothing more in the beginning. We dug out the basement, the attic became a snipers nest, and the house itself became a maze for the zombies to go through, complete with ways to shoot at them from above when they met a roadblock. It finally went downhill on day 35, when the then-new exploding zombies just ripped through the maze. We survived the night, but the house was done for. Shame, really.
@zyanidwarfare56342 жыл бұрын
@@Wolftatze we more or less stopped adding to it after 3 hordes, and only upgraded it to cobble and it lasted us well past day 100 and still hasn’t fallen technically we just haven’t been playing the game recently It’s one of the big barns in the corn fields and we built a maze on the ground floor with parts the zombies can jump over and such and then walkways above, and the maze leads to ladders which go up and bottleneck to the upper area where we are and the outside has all kinds of walkways and there’s even a emergency fallback at the very top but it hasn’t fallen no matter how much comes at it somehow Even the exploding bikers and cops haven’t managed to destroy it fully though we do constantly need to repair the bottom floor

You can park underground. I had an entire house, iwth a basement, with a hatch, that has gas pumps and my mini bike. With a long tunnel straight to the other side of the map or traders. That way, the base is over run, you go in your underground hatch in the basement, and ride away.
@noah63042 жыл бұрын
For my underground base I decided to dig the pit along the border of the trader zone, that way I have a unbreakable floor as well as an unbreakable wall. I just attached my shooting position to that side and the zombies can never break it!
@mikec99822 жыл бұрын
I did something like this in my last playthrough. I dug a 6x7 hole entirely around the trader, with a drawbridge for access. If you figure out the direction the zombies are spawning from and run towards it, they always spawn opposite the hole. So you can either sit and wait, or put bars on the edge so you can safely fire down in and kill them.

Very nice looking base. A thought for you as far as the zombies attacking blocks below your position. It helps a great deal if you have nothing below your fighting position. Basically make your fighting position an overhang. For instance. When I build my zombie horde base above ground, I have learned that my fighting position needs to be extended from the main foundation. If there is nothing directly below you within 3 blocks in any direction, they tend to ignore the foundation part of your building. I do love the look of your base though. My suggestion, add a third route direction, put up like two SMG turrets, put them in front of the third position and you can AFK it or use it when you have something you want to do. Just put the switches to activate it from your normal fighting position.

Great video! One problem I ran into was that if too many zombies get clumped up on the cookie, they'll start trying to tunnel down somewhere on the surface level. So I decided to go full cartoon villain and replace the cookie with a powered vault door, with its switch right next to my fighting position. Every now and then I flip it, sending a lovely mass of zeds falling down the shaft.

I've found that the most convenient BM location, is any larger above ground POI you're going to do a quest at. Basically you seek high ground and destroy any paths to the upper floors. The zombies will naturally try to bring down the building. But assuming you got Molotovs and plenty of ammo, you'll do fine. And when the night is over, you can reset the POI and everything will get repaired. It has the benefit of not needing to build and maintain a fancy base. Molotovs are my go-to explosive, due to being most reliable.

@@blueSkies777 I also bring a junk turret or two. The roof is a good spot. If you make a square of 6 boxes on the roof and place the turret in the middle, it'd not be able to hit ground targets easily, but it will be able to hit birds(which I prefer as it saves ammo for the birds and limits the number of reloads I have to do). Put the turret on the side of the roof opposite to the stairs, aimed inwards. The birds will fly above you at the roof and get shot down. It helps you deal with the birds before they stack up. Otherwise if you fall down and have to get up on the second floor, you'd likely have to do it from the outside... where the birds are waiting for you :p Let me know how it goes lol

Man that is a ton of work to create an over the top awesome pit base. And it really is awesome. I did the bedrock home base design in alpha 19 and it worked out really well. Id imagine alpha 20 it still works even with feral sense going by the sheer distance. Dig a tunnel straight down 2 blocks wide with a ladder leading to bedrock then get started on building your new home. You can actually do it on day 1-2 if you focus on it. After all, first day you just need a space to put your bedroll to mark it on your map and maybe enough room for a couple storage chests for all that stone. :p You can widen it as needed as you go. Didnt even consider a horde base as I know there are all those pathing issues. Always fun to see how people figure out a way to work around them.

Not built a bedrock base since I played the game on PS4 so a long time ago. When I switched to PC version I watched someone build and use one back then and the first few Z's would splat but then the old gore piles they turned into cushioned the rest so I wrote it off as a viable base idea, the payoff wasn't worth the effort. Yours looks interesting with the newer mechanics and the lil tricks to make them jump in the pit. I'd like to be inspired to try it but I dunno, it's a lot of digging. I'll keep it in mind though. Thanks for showcasing. Ah, the good old days when I thought nothing of digging a tunnel beneath a lake to the other side, or had to dig extensively to afford mats for a bridge over the lake instead (plus all the extra heal kits to save from drowning while you sunk pillars for said bridge). This latest version of the game barely any digging required. You can get iron by scrapping, lead you don't need much of and again you can find scrap. Cobble and cement is bountiful from POIs, clay doesn't come in patches anymore, it's everywhere on the surface which leaves just coal and nitrate to dig for, making me lazy at digging anything now.

SMG turrets at each corner of the bottom area controlled by a switch to “/kill” all the zombies inside in case I want to grab a bag or two mid horde or go AFK fully for 3600 9mm rounds. The main 8x8 room is open and perfect for pipe bombs and gunning down the zombies trying to find a way up. If you set this up in the mountains but still have the kill zone at bedrock, does the fall damage increase? More damage for longer fall? Another thing you could add is blade traps set into the walls of the fall shaft. That way the zombies are taking damage all the way down as they fall. We did something similar but on a horizontal shaft setup and they nearly never made it to the 4 and 5 blades, of 7. The floor was set up to allow drop bags to fall through so someone could run through occasionally and pick up all the goods before it despawns.

I'm making my own version of a bedrock base that is based on using primarily explosives. I found a MUCH better way to get them down to it. First off, instead of the "cookie" I am using a small half pole block. Second, if you put one about 7 blocks down and then another one block over and 7 more blocks down all the way to the bottom, they see it as a full path and just run off the edge. So I did that on all 4 sides. It also helps if the first "step" on the top is a slope block on its side to make a diagonal half block. They all drop straight down the hole like lemmings and I've never seen one get stuck.
@eragonawesome2 жыл бұрын
The dome corner piece is absolutely tiny with the health of a full block, is valid for pathing, and is basically impossible for anything to actually stand on for any period of time, use this for any time you need to create a "valid path" but don't want to actually let any significant number of zeds through

Just tried a similar base in darkness falls. Let's say they tend to start digging rathen leaping into hole. But considering the cost of repair, it is really a decent base that stoods it's ground againds demons and mutated demolishers.

I would add spinning blade traps in the chute and in the death pit to tenderise them a bit first

Subbed! Nice looking base and it works.

Bit late, dunno if anything has been patched either... but you could try using a punching turret to knock them off the plates to keep the bunching from being as bad (if vertical distance is more forgiving than horizontal for turret to be active.)

I really wish the ps4 and other consoles had these updates. We are still stuck on version 1.18 😞 Great work by the way!

Sweet build! Sleek, clean and may I say sexy looking base. Question though, instead of your 'cookie' block, are the slanted blocks not a more viable approach? Do the zombies not see them as a useful ' stepping stone ' ?

Very cool concept for a base. My underground basses always fail.

I am really intrigued by these complex builds. Yours are among the finest. Then there's the 5X5 Challenge bases. A couple of YTers have conquered that concept and made it just about 100% AFK. I wonder if people are interested in building the most minimal horde base possible? I have seen a 4X4 that almost worked and even a 3X3 that worked. What say you 7d2d players?

Have you made a tutorial on how you make your lights inside the base? They look cool

Did this like 4 years ago on console with my wife. Was soooo satisfying when the giant floating chunk of map finally collapsed. We built a giant zigguraut at the top that used my wife as bait in a steel cage suspended over the hole, I slaughtered any survivors of the fall for the glory of the apocalyptic gods. Was glorious.
