I live in a really, really remote part of Australia, not a hope of a Guinness and even if there was, it'd be nothing like my local back in Mayo, but I can get cans if this on occasion when the barge comes in from the mainland. I managed to get a 6 pack of this after work tonight and I'm happy out. I can't wait to come back and have a proper pint, but this will keep me going until I can travel back to Ireland.

I buy Kilkenny for a treat because its amazing and if I see it in a pub I'll buy a few pints, it just tastes so good, its mainly sold in touristy pubs I think because the tourists love it. Funny thing is smithicks was made in Kilkenny and Kilkenny was always made in Dublin, they called it Kilkenny because they mainly sell it over sea's and foreigners can't pronounce the name smithwicks properly so they stuck with the name Kilkenny even though both beers don't taste anything like each other

Craft beer is trash. People drink it because they think it gives them character. No one likes it lol
@JackBWakeham3 жыл бұрын
@@DaireSheehan He speaks for a pretty small group of people at this point, most people know that the independent sector produces the best beer, I don't use the term 'craft' as its just independent beer. Also people who hate on 'craft' are generally those who go into Aldi or Lidl and pick stuff up and don't think its any better or worse than macro stuff which it is, its just aldi / lidl trying to cash in, quality of that stuff is awful. Need to use a bottleshop or go direct to the brewers for the best stuff.
@JackBWakeham3 жыл бұрын
@@Hometruths29 No such thing as 'over hopping' really, especially not in something like Leffe Blonde. Most beer has an element of bitterness that's generally why we come back sip after sip.
@JackBWakeham3 жыл бұрын
@@Hometruths29 I kind of meant it in the literal sense of nobody is going to put too many hops in a beer. If lots of hops is what people like (which they do) they will fill a beer full of hops. Hops don't have to result in bitterness if they are put in hot side they result in bitterness, if you put them in cold side you end up with aromatics and flavor, there are reasons to do both and styles within IPA that represent either side of that scale, east coast being more fruity and aromatic, west coast being more resinous and bitter. You mention 'sour bitterness' would say you've been trying the wrong beers, I love both West Coast and East Coast style IPA's and never had an experience i would define as 'sour bitterness'. I have had plenty of sour IPA's but that's a whole different ball park / topic, but they are also lovely beers.
@JackBWakeham3 жыл бұрын
@@Hometruths29 I guess my point is... just because there is beer out there traditional or more modern that is not to your taste or that your palate cant take, doesn't mean its over hopped etc, its just that you don't like it, which is fine, but that doesn't make it wrong.

@John-nr6gg4 жыл бұрын
I hated Guiness years ago for its flavour way back then, but a few years ago it appeared on the shelves as "new recipe Guiness". Thought I'd give it a go, and it became my favourite beer right there. Favourite for winter drinking, but kept Tetley's for summer. But more recently I tried Kilkenny. And yes, as you tried Kilkenny in your video, you described it exactly as i do. It's a brilliant beer, in every way. It became my all-year-round favourite, instantly, no messing. (I wouldn't turn my back on Guiness completely though; sometimes you just need that particular taste.) And it's as you say: it's quality, and top quality usually comes at top cost. Nice review!
