Keto, vegan, paleo, plant-based, carnivore, eat 6 meals a day diet, intermittent fasting ... all stating different studies... cherry-picking all their stuff?! Who to believe? At the end of the day, we do what's best for us for our lifestyle and preferences.

On another note-hopefully less annoying than my last shitty opinion above. I wonder what Dr B would think about epsom salt baths-often called sensory deprivation tank- which have so many other benefits than just sensory deprivation-soaking in magnesium sulfate & allowing the body to take in as much as it needs through the largest organ in the body for digestion, sleep, depression & so many other benefits. I’ve heard medicine can be absorbed through skin. Please tell me if you believe/heard otherwise. Interesting research about the reaction from the skin to the environment triggers some of those epigenetics that are talked about here, the skin organ is so powerful. We have an extremely smart organ controlling internal functions based on the external environment. Just another wonderful thing we don’t give enough credit to in my stupid opinion

I re-watched a David Sinclair interview ( I greatly respect SInclair's science-based knowledge on increasing longevity) - I just watched his interview on IT, again - and am more convinced than ever that Cold Exposure is the way to go. Problem IS, I completely crumble at the thought of a damn cold shower, though. Disappointed that the issue of animal protein - especially increasing quality protein as we age for muscle maintenance- never came up! I am against vegan now, as WAS one for 6 years. Ended up Insidiously over time losing muscle mass but not really noticing until I DID...and oh, sh*t I'm headed for sarcopenia. And I DO exervise...big exercise buff - but still...skinny fat. So, was WOKE - - about increasing my Quality (think animal protein), from a Dr. Gabrielle Lyon interview right here on IT. Immediately felt better, still feel great 8 mos. later now. I LOOK better, have more energy, no longer 'skinny fat'. I live veggies, and still do eat alit of veggies, and also fruits. So, now with THIS interview, I'm just SO confused, but also very disappointed that the subject of increasing 'quality' protein as we age (40 Y O & up), that part did not come up at all. Btw, I am of tge belief that it's impossible to get the amount of quality 'complete' protein we need, for our muscles, as we age with veggies, fruits and grains, legumes.
@gabrieltorres57323 жыл бұрын
I am confused as well, I just changed to a Carnivore diet but I get some fiber from nuts. I But there are days that I don’t consume any nuts and I don’t have any gut problems, in fact there is evidence showing that meat heals. He does mention Omega 3’s but you really have to eat a lot of nuts to get some while eating a lil bit of sardines is way superior for Brain growth. Though I believe in the Microbiome I feel that all plant based diet can only go so far until you realize that you need more protein. Like you said when you get older you need more protein and animal meats and their organs hold the nutrients we need. I’m 40 years old and I feel like I’m in my 20’s again when going all animal products for nutrition.
@adamj26833 жыл бұрын
So because YOU didn't eat enough protein and YOU didn't do enough weight training, you decided that paying people to enslave and slit the throats of sentient beings so you could eat their corpses was the solution? If someone is eating a lesser quality vitamin that doesn't absorb as well as other forms, they just need a larger quantity of it. If someone is doing an exercise routine that isn't as efficient at working out their muscles, they just need a larger quantity of it. If someone only has lesser quality shirts and it's pretty cold out, they can put more of them on. Just eat more plant protein. If your body needs 100gram of protein eat 120gram plant protein. And do weight training. Problem solved.

What prebiotic does the doctor use personally? I wish Tom had asked. I am vegan, and interested in learning more about this specific issue.

I thought the part about needing to heal trauma to fix your gut issues was interesting. Does anyone know if he covers this in his book?
@AngelDGomez-vz2vz3 жыл бұрын
He has said that it is not covered in the book. He mentioned it in the Rich Roll podcast that he didn't have enough pages... smells like another book to me!

I’m not sure if I just fell asleep at some point of this video 😅, but the only nut that I heard was peanuts when they talked about legumes. Nuts have fiber. I wonder how much of the nuts is acceptable? I’m 54 and would get bouts of arthritis when I eat nuts, but I love them. Or maybe, if I don’t eat nuts along with the bad foods, that I might not even end up with painful bones and joints after 3days of eating them. 😂

I had a dr. Misdiagnosed my gallbladder. Took 90% of my large intestines. Made me sick. Then asked if i had my gallbladder. Removed it. Its hard to eat veggies, i love them... where do i start

When I eat red meat it jacks my stomach up, also to much fat. No red meat and not high fat with loads of fruit and veggies is when I feel great. I try to get lots of chlorophyll in

QUESTION: when attempting to get 30 various plant-based foods each week, do you need to eat a whole serving of each particular food? Also,if you eat a variety of nuts, does each type of nut count as a different plant-based food?
@nledelnr3 жыл бұрын
For most of human evolution our diets were limited to the regional seasonality of food. It is counter intuitive to say that more variety is better. Too many Phds. Not enough ancestral wisdom.
@Cryderbot3 жыл бұрын
read the book and he mentions that the gut adapts to diet. The Hunza People are a case study that shows that their biome changes from season to season because of the food they eat. His critique is that the Standard American Diet is actually quite limited.

I always think that things that I eat affect my mood, surprised that it's true.
@OswaldDigestiveClinic3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! And on the flip side, things that you don't get enough of can also influence your mood! For example, Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause depression! Luckily, nutrition can help! Animal products are a good source of B12, but if you don't eat those, good vegan sources include nutritional yeast and mushrooms!

Tom is right!! Removing my 84 year old mom from meat consumption 5 years ago reversed all of her chronic illnesses (heart disease, diabetes, hypertension). She is now super healthy, lean and prescription drug free going on 5 years after going plant based...Animal flesh rots in your colon where disease starts. Yes, our ancestors consumed meat, but didn’t have cell phones, TV’s etc. I’ve been plant based for over 20 years and love it! I have the most energy in gyms and I’m lean and fit same as my mom

@luciaseacreature87052 жыл бұрын
i love lentils but panuts legumes beans are considered by some cultures in dietary world to be toxic and also not low carb... beans and peanuts are considered really toxic... sorry but i missed it or never heard mentioned about kimchi sauerkraut and fermented foods

Which fiber is a the best to add to our diets? Psyllium husk?
@justmusic14273 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Fiber feeds our gut microbiome. And we need to increase our intake of fiber! All Plant! There is no fiber in animal products. In my professional opinion, that's where it's at, and Dr. Will Bulsiewicz said it! Thank you, Dr Will!

If you found this video fascinating, you may also want to know the indicators of a healthy gut! They are: colon transit time of 12-24 hours, type 4 stool on the bristol stool chart, not having diarrhea or constipation, having 1-3 bowel movements per day, and light-dark brown colored stools!
