The rotating swings electrons to one side, protons to another and sets up a North pole and a South Pole due to molecular positioning of the atoms. When you demagnetize it, you reorient the electrons and protons of more permeable atoms back into proximity of one another and thus their static polar energy returns to one another as the good lord intended.

way back when i was working for peavy electronics in their tool room, we made such a device from an old motor... for safety, we made a enclosure and guide, so it was easy to repeat the mag/demag procedure... just a thought... william...

Yes. Very good idea! Though I have yet to build an enclosure, that is certainly on my todo list when I get my shop back up and running.

We have one of these at the shop where I work. Ours has been potted somehow (not sure with what, looks like wax. It's way before my time) and you pass your hand right on through and don't have to worry about getting bit.

Thank you, just what I was looking for. Have a pressure washer with a leaking pump, so I will salvage the motor and try this. BTW, anyone know why practically everything in the workshop magnetises over time, could it be anything to do with the shift in the earth's magnetic pole?
@sunny5rising
@sunny5rising 4 жыл бұрын
As far as drill bits and end mills, I believe they get magnetized because of the heat generated during use.

hey Mr Charlie, i was thinking of making a magnet so just these questions, are the screw drivers permanently magnetized? and how strong can this magnets be and what is the factor for their strength? and how can u make a video where u make it from a blender's AC motor or anything related to that? i just wanted to see the detail steps u know i dont want to electricuit my self doin that and thanks before hand.

Is it mandatory to touch the side to magnetize, or just putting it away the centre will do? Does it hurt o shock if touched w/o insulation? Could I magnetize water inside bottle if i put it a few secs inside of it? Thanks in advance
@sunny5rising
@sunny5rising 7 жыл бұрын
I've always touched the side, so you'll have to experiment with that one. I don't recommend touching the winding, no. I recommend building an insulating cover to be on the safe side of things. With the water thing, again, you'll have to experiment...or ask someone who knows, lol.

Any idea why my 200 watt motor, pulls 3000 watts when i take the rotor out? Should I drop the voltage from 220v down to say 60v? My house only has 3000 watt service so i can't run it 🤣
@sunny5rising
@sunny5rising 2 жыл бұрын
Taking the rotor out interrupts the "Magnetic Circuit". This causes the stator to "suck" more energy. The stator will heat up and burn out rather quickly if not careful. I only keep mine on for several seconds at a time. After making this video, I let it sit for a while to cool down before using it again.
@SmartMoneyRyan

@@sunny5rising of okay, so you have no extra circuitry or anything. I thought maybe you had a motor controller on it. Thank you for the reply 😄

Correct, the only thing I have is the toggle switch. An AC motor controller is probably not a bad idea. :)
@SmartMoneyRyan

@@sunny5rising yeah i was thinking a motor controller could allow for easier demagnetization maybe. It would follow a similar principal to degaussing a crt monitor. If you slowly turned the voltage down. I'm using this for mechanical wrist watches. I used it today and it did the trick. Thank you for the video. I just used a Panasonic water booster pump.

Yes due to the science of magnetism itself any magnetized metal will slowly lose it's magnetic field. Depending how strong of a magnet (or type such as neodymium magnets) they can can easily go several years or longer before beginning to lose it's charge.

This particular motor is a 3 phase,but i had to wire it single phase. So I'm only using two of the three phases. Have to be careful though, as it can only be on for about 5 seconds or the stator might burn out and short itself. A dc motor would be a lot safer.

Your best bet would be to do a search for someone who has modified a motor of your type. I've only tried this particular motor so I'm not exactly sure of the specifics. Don't want to guess with ac.

Hi I have a good condition refrigerator compressor and want to try do the same. There are 3 pins and 3 wires are connected to them But The colour of the wires is white and some of them are with one string of green and the other ones are with two stringers of green and the last one has nothing. How can I know how to contact it to the plug?. One more thing can you please do the same video just with electric welder machine. As it have very high amperage. Can it make a stronger magnets?.
@sunny5rising

Unfortunately, I have no idea about any of that. I suppose you could look up part numbers and try to decipher a wiring diagram to see what you need for the plug. Not quite sure what you mean about the welder.
