Subscribed. When I been ten years living in one of the most dangerous places of Brazil seen a few BJJ practitioners beaten down by intuitive brawlers. I'm with you, when there is no rules, natural movements and genetic memory is the way to go. Greetings from Uruguay brother and thanks for preserving Fairbairn's legacy.

1:30 mark - using the uppercut palm strike if in the clinch is a good tactic, however, it doesn't allow for much other than a brute force attack... so, food for thought, something I learned in combatives and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, as a takedown from both opponents standing, resulting in a face to face finish, or taking the opponent's back for a submission - both work well for taking out sentries, pickets. Alternative #1 1. Instead of grabbing the arm that has a solid hold on your neck with the same side, you use the same arm. I.E. If the opponent has their right arm around your neck, grab their right elbow with your right arm, and step back, straightening the opponent's arm. 2. Using your free, Left hand, open palm strike the ear region, and hold onto the right arm. 3. As the opponent falls laterally, not linear to you, holding onto the arm allows for you to take back control... crossface, lift the chin up via application of pressure to the nose, and slide in the arm across the neck for a simple rear-naked. 4. Tap the back of the opponent's knees with one of your feet, and that person will drop, sinking in your choke further - then simply get your hooks in, and choke until intended effect is achieved. Alternative #2 Another alternative, is simply, grab the back of the opponents neck with your right arm, matching the opponent's move. Use your other hand to drive upwards into the jaw, covering the chin, and... K move from the front. Silences sentries, pickets. Consider the open palm strikes, the bones in our hands are nowhere near as strong as we think, and break more easily with a closed fist. Also, consider that you're using strikes as a majority of your offensive hand-to-hand, in current times most opponents are wearing body armor, SAPI plates. Carry on.

The way Fairbairn taught it, you are leaving out a key component of the chin jab. As you push the head up and back, your hand should close over his face. As you push, your fingertips then gouge the eyes, making the head move easier and allowing you to get him more easily and more quickly to the ground. Study the original films to see what I mean. Otherwise, enjoyed the video, nice job.

Variation in the theme. As you apply the pull down in the arm with your L/Hand and you Drive Your R/ Open Palm up under the Oops Chin , throwing his head backwards and bending him causing his groin to tighten up , Now You strike that Viscious Knee up into his testicles , driving him backwards , as you step your Right foot down , to the outside of the oops legs on your Left side , by stepping foreward with your right foot down outside oops legs. Using the same hold on his arm with your Left hand , you repeat that same move , only Pull down with your left hand towels the floor this time as you strike the palm this time to the Left side of His jaw in a more sideways motion as you pull down on his arm throwing the opp to your left , over you right leg to lever him and trip him to you left side causing him to fall.

The Chin-Jab, as taught by Lt. Col. W.E. Fairbairn is extremely effective. When delivered properly, it will at the very least knock a man out, and could dislocate the neck at the C1-C2 dens bone attachment. When you deliver the chin-jab say with you right hand, it should be drawn back and the finger's clawed, you should imagine your holding a 30 shot put in your hand. This locks your wrist in place, and other hand formation you have a chance of injury to your wrist. This position as helps in delivering the chin jab probably. As your delivering you chin jab, generally speaking the knee tk the nuts is used to force the adversary to bend forward, exposing his chin to take the full power of the strike. The chin jab should travel up the adversary's centerline, yes, that is the correct way to do it. It a close quarters/clinch situation it can and should be delivered with your opposite had grabbing around the waist so your palm is on the center of his back, forcing him backwards, at the same time, you clawed chin jab is now forced into his eyes and face by lifting your elbow and forcing the back of his skull into the ground, one can finish the fight by whatever means they like. Once the opponent is down and it is a LIFE OR DEATH situation and you are faced with other attackers, rather than wasting time moving around attacking the body then the head trying to pick out vulnerable targets while avoiding blocks and any weapons I would simply move to the side and employ the one technique that Fairbairn developed for just such a situation....... The Bronco kick. This would result in either death or severe injury and incapacitation enabling my attention to be turned to either a quick escape or dealing with any other threats . Other than that one criticism, as a student of Fairbairn and other similar sysrems I enjoyed this well presented demonstrations and have subscribed to your channel.

I certainly respect the Old School exponents of the chin jab, but I believe that Kelly McCann makes a good point about the shortcomings of applying it down the center line. It's easier to perform and harder to dodge if applied to the side of the jaw. Thanks for the demonstration.

You need to reconsider And the pull down on his arm and the upward palm under the chin can and should be delivered almost simultaneously for maximum push pull effect , once the opp is bent backwards and his groin area is tight Deliver that Right leg as a Knee into his groin coming straight up hard into his testicles Lifting him up and continue moving forward and step your Right foot down deep between his legs going forward . Rtetain your hands as before and the Opp will go to the floor.. Always advance foreward into your opp. Never step backwards and give up your advantage. Advance onto the opp constantly.

When one might be on the tall side, these things are very important, working inside from below with the leverage. But normally 191cm and quick feet provides radius to stay outside with a knife and then the other gentleman decides what to do and one reacts. Space. Always.

As off putting as it may be, watch the jungle predators attack, they always go for the weakest points, throats, genitals and backbones. When you are a 250 lb lion trying to take down a 1500 lb Cape buffalo, you cannot risk the leverage and brute strength of your opponent. They have to attack and quickly incapacitate the prey or they will easily get stomped or smashed themselves. Life can be brutal, I hope no one watching this ever has to use these skills, but if your life is in the hands of some evil person assaulting you for no reason, I hope you have the smarts and guts to remember some of the points that were made.

One thing I have noticed, in all of Fairbairn's teachings that I have seen, this including most of the films of him and his books, is not a word on defense against, blocking or parrying blows and kicks, just dealing with holds, and attacking with various blows and holds. Am I missing something, or is this by design, to best counter someone coming at and wailing punches at you?
@gutterfightsecrets
@gutterfightsecrets 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question bro the full system is actually based on Western boxing so if you really learn it from the ground up there is a lot of that type of stuff. I have a video out there somewhere about Parriang the jab and Pushing the fingers into the guys that’s classic go to fighting but most of what we see on KZbin and the black-and-white films is just a little bit of white Fairburn actually was teaching

Fairbairn was exceptionally well schooled in different martial arts, having trained in boxing, catch wrestling, savate, judo, and Baguazhang kung fu (his videos are perhaps one of the few non-bullshit examples of kung fu as an actual fighting art), the tiger claw palm strike to the chin is *very* particular to Baguazhang. But most importantly he tested them in real world fights He was a member of the Shanghai municipal police at a time when those guys were notorious for the number of street fights and riots they ended up being involved in. So he quickly learned which elements of which styles were legit and which were bullshit. Would he be effective in a street fight against a modern MMA fighter? Honestly I don't think so. The level of grappling acumen modern fighters have and the effectiveness of Muay Thai vs the striking systems he knew mean that so long as the MMA fighters is willing to fight dirty Fairbairn would probably lose. But for its time it was an extremely impressively well rounded way of thinking about street fighting
