As a girl watching this, it’s very insightful to hear your answers and explanations! And I’m glad to hear a man talking about confidence, body positivity, etc. because I think there’s so much unnecessary pressure about what “being a man” entails. Kudos to you for giving some great answers to those questions & it’s even helpful as a girl watching this! “You, as a human, are innately valuable” will stick with me for a while ♥️

This was great Matt! As far as "why do some guys have a hard time expressing their feelings?" I want to make a couple points. 1. Matt you mentioned that Abby is much more aware of her feelings; which I would say is probably truer for more women than men. However, it has been made very clear to me, that this is likely bc of the way men are raised when they are boys & what society & culture expects out of men. Men are taught that sharing feelings is weak or makes them "too sensitive" & that being a sensitive man is a bad thing & they are literally not provided the tools to successfully to communicate their feelings & be aware of them. Men at a young age are literally shamed into this & usually grow up believing it to be true. I'm seeing this stigma already be placed on my 3 yr old nephew by his grandfather. Does this mean only men feel this way? No. There are women who were taught the same things that become closed off emotionally. Everyone should be aware of their feelings so they know how to communicate their needs in the relationships they have--not just talking romantic relationships. 2. It has been statistically proven that women speak more words in a day than men do. With this information it would be easy to say, "so women talk more than men!" But that's not the case; women use many more adjectives/descriptive words than men, making their count higher. So anyway, if you got this far, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk ✌🏼
@aNNa-qh6ho3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s important that men talk about how they’re feeling. My partner is like you and doesn’t easily cry, but he does have a sensitive side. It’s not a weakness in men at all to express how they’re feeling.

the reason guys have a hard time expressing their feelings is because our society raised them to think it isn’t masculine to have feelings. but it is! if you guys ever have a son, make sure he feels comfortable with it from a young age and it won’t be so hard for him growing up!

@oliviawilcox83873 жыл бұрын
@sweetlikegrande I want that with all my heart too, just a guy and friends who love me for me, accepts my flaws, and pushes me to become a better person. I only have two friends currently that I talk to anymore, and I feel genuinely care and love me. Almost three years ago I graduation from high school and I lost two friends, both of them I always felt I wasn't at the top of their list. One I still loved so much and wanted to be her friend so badly and had lots of things in common with her and just had tons of fun when together. She knew I saw her that way but she had more friends than I did and I guess just moved on to just them. I still think about it today and miss her even though it hurts so much. I have trust issues in myself for not being as mature and not finding the best friends. I also have trust issues a bit with others and am still super scared to open up again to more people. I want those type of people in my life desperately and really just ling for it, you know? Love you and you are never alone trust me

A little helpful constructive criticism, the sound effect you put when putting a question on the screen than removing really isn’t needed, in fact it is distracting from what you’re saying and not very easy on the ears especially when wearing earphones. Maybe try a softer sound and only using it when displaying the question, not when removing it. Love the vid and you guys!

@@gracebleekman2557 I love that. My brothers and I never have really talked about periods and when I have mentioned it, I can tell they don't want to talk about it. For me, especially because of that, I'm even more grateful for males that want to ask questions, want to know how they can help, and just be respectful about it. In my family, I've grown up always thinking that it's a "secret" and I've just been afraid to talk about it, maybe because I have four younger brothers and young siblings but I wish I was in more of a situation where it was a little more open.
