Part 6: • Guy Torry: A Skinhead ...
Part 4: • Guy Torry: Black Actor...
Part 1: • Guy Torry on Following...
------
Guy Torry spoke to VladTV about working on American History X, which he believes is his most important role to date. He explained that the movie has inspired people from all walks of life - from Lakers players to W. Kamau Bell, who told Torry that the movie inspired his CNN show, United Shades of America.
During the conversation, Guy also spoke about the tension and difficulties he witnessed while filming American History X, and he added that some of the scenes were adlibbed. To hear more, including not knowing who Edward Norton was before filming the movie, hit the above clip.

I "converted" a few racists when I was in the military, in the early 80's it wasn't zero tolerance like it is today and guys could say what they wanted to you and I was in the Coast Guard which was 99% white. Being from the south I knew how to deal with racists and one of the biggest racist on my base I ended up being his best man at his wedding pissing his entire family off. Over 35yrs later we're still good friends today, prejudice is a learned behavior.

Totally agree with 2 things... I have always looked away as soon as Ed says "bite the curb" because the way he says "say Goodnight" after that has so much vitriol in it I can just imagine how brutal the actual scene is... but then that slow mo arrest in the middle of the street like he's proud its the best thing he's achieved in his life by the way he smiles yet his eyes say something different... incredible scene, especially in black and white.
