I love it when someone allows an animal to be completely themselves, and accepts that their relationship will always be on the animal's terms. Steven and Cheerio are obviously close, and I'm sure that he loves the visits from Cheerio and his friends. But he knows that Cheerio is a wild animal, and deserves to live his life as he chooses.

🥰🥰🥰 we have a mated pair of mallards that come to our pond every year! We have been trying to make it baby safe and this summer they successfully nested hatching 6 chicks and taking them onto the bigger waters near by! It was exciting to see them have a full clutch survive. Raccoons are a MENACE, and thanks to some winter deterrent practices, we managed to chase off all the raccoons without harming any of them! The opossum family helped tremendously with that! Our whole property is natural with a little help from the local greenhouses having a TON of local flora that attract the RIGHT kind of critters including the kind BALD EAGLES like allowing for a juvenile to take up residency in the "neighborhood" (all wooded properties each over an acre one being nearly 90acres)

A few years ago, I saw a mama duck trying to get her babies out of a big rectangular water fountain, but the edges were too high for the little ducks to get over. It was late at night with nobody else nearby, so I looked around and found a piece of plywood the right size to place one side on the edge and the other side into the water like a ramp, and one by one, they figured it out and walked out of the water to their mama!
