WOW, THANK YOU VERY MUCH NEIL MARKS AND THE GUYANA ARCHIVES FOR THIS VERY INTERESTING ,AND INFORMATIVE INFORMATION. TRULY ENJOYED,, WE NEED TO GET MORE. I studied West Indian History and there was a book called History of the West Indian people and Guyana was included too but I will be honest to say I cannot remember everything in the book. The Slave Trade was mentioned. We all should learn our history. Thanks to the gentleman who is talking about our indentured ancestors... I remember reading about the DUTCH planantations and some artefacts they left behind like what the gentleman is talking about, namely the DUTCH Bottles and broken dishes,. Thank you Neil Marks for this important piece of information...

I wish i knew about my ancestry. However, nothing is known about my great great grandparents on my maternal side. Then on my paternal side, my father didn’t grow up with his biological father so nothing is known about him. Then my grandmother on the paternal side, her birth wasn’t registered so it’s difficult to track the ancestry.

Hi Neil, I'm a little confused, pardon me, was it your grandmother who was born in 1910? And your parents got married in 1965? Did your father take the name of the plantation owner?

As an Indian i don't know how i reached to your video but yes it's very good documentary except the knowledge of that girl about caste and sati in hinduism is completely influenced by western, leftist and anti-hindu sources. I think to talk about that a should either read the original text like Gita, Ramayana or vedas, or get knowledge from those authors who follows hinduism. At last welcome to India.

Thats nice to know our forefathers, but when Brazilians,or some time Americians come to Guyana they pretend, Guyana is strange, like if they did not come from europe or Africa, themselves and they were all natives for ever in America OR Brazil, makes me laugh.
