My mom died a year ago, and she was the BEST cook! One of my greatest regrets is that I didn't learn to make roti from her.....your recipe seems direct and easy to follow so I will give it a try. Thank you so much for sharing. Making it will help me feel closer to her as well as her Guyanese heritage. ❤❤❤❤

@karenf10797 жыл бұрын
You can easily make ghee yourself. So much less expensive. Buy unsealed biutter let melt in pot then turn to lowest setting and leave for 45 mins strain and it's done.
@zochbuppet4487 жыл бұрын
Indo Trinis I think still use ghee in their roti. I heard it taste great though. You can mix the oil with butter. Guyanese don't like their roti falling apart in pieces and I think that's what ghee and butter does, that why most people use oil. I wouldn't use shortening, even though it will make the roti soft.
@karenf10797 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ. Ghee does not make the roti fall apart. However it gives the roti an outstanding flavor. Oil/butter/margarine are typically used for convenience. The texture and thickness of a roti depends on kneading and how much water is used in the dough, which then affects the elasticity
