One of my worse falls was almost exactly like this. I took a 10 year old OOTB on a 1/4 mile track in my friends back yard and it was his first time back on a track. My friend was up ahead of me and we wanted just a canter she goes off and then my horse takes off full gallop. (I’m thinking his competitive side came in and he wanted to race) boy did I fall hard. It was 110% my fault but reminded me of this. Hope your okay as well!

mistakes happen. i thought you handled the fall perfectly. it’s better to roll off to the side than in front of the horse as it could cause all sorts of minor damage to his face and neck (depending how heavy you are). not sure why everyone’s getting triggered in the comments tho. mistakes happen and it’s about making the situation as good as it can possibly get that’s important and causing no excess damage x

Probably, when she'd fallen the pressure moved to behind his ears for a short time, because after that it slipped off over his ears which doesn't hurt too much and he probably saw it coming and if he did he opened his mouth for the bit. It might've scraped over his teeth or behind his ears but horses are tough animals, they can play roughly and not be hurt so don't worry :)

Guy Finnegan So it’s ok to blame your horse on a situation you put them in? It’s a horses natural instinct to be spooked, no one should be mad at their horse. Ksenija Maksimora he just stopped. He had mental issues which made him do stuff like that. He was the most sure footed horse at speed you could hope for. I've also fallen off a horse. When I was little I went to riding school and there was a sertain horse that just hates me. For no reason. First day I was going to ride her and she bit me(not so hard though). But she was super kind to others, and when I was riding her she turned so she could bit my leg (tried) causing me to flinch to the other side and fell.. yeah.. that was the last time I got to ride her..luckely next I got to ride a horse that became my favorite. And i loved happily ever after THE END

OMG so glad to see someone has experienced this! I still ride at a riding school and the other week was put on a horse who bit me on the leg. I was so shocked, but instead of falling I shoved her head away and switched horses lol. In 10 years of riding I never once considered that was possible.

As a non horse rider (❤horses) can explain what happen? Did you lose you balance leaning forward? Did he slowdown before you were ready? I'm amazed you didn't break your wrist or arm. I imagine a horse is like a boat... 35 mph is fast to the senses.

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE COMMENT! I AM NOT TRYING TO THROW HATE! Are the horses mouth and teeth okay? I was worried since I saw that you were holding the rains while falling and that way took the whole bridle off so i thought you might have yanked at the bit and damaged his mouth and especially teeth. I also saw at the beginning of the video that Kermit was jerking his head so I thought that you might have been pulling on the rains too much which could also damage the horses mouth. Try to use your weight to stop the horse rather than thr bit, sit back in the saddle to stop him, use slight pulling of your hands on the bit so you don't hurt your horse. This is not hate, I am just trying to help. P.S. Kermit is such a good horse for stopping when you fell.
@guymofo19716 жыл бұрын
PsychoNinaa all good points in normal circumstances. Firstly lets be clear, its not me riding, Angela is riding and does all of those things you mention ie using her seat to control not the reins. Also, racehorses are trained to run into pressure in the bit. Its a different riding style to a normal hacking horse. The way to stop a racehorse is to release the contact so there is no attempt to stop kermit with the reins as this has the opposite effect to what you would expect. Kermit was a very special horse with many insecurities from his racing days. He would pull on his bit quite aggressively just while standing. There are a few other vids on my channel filmed by me that show kermit ‘standing’ waiting to go. Have a look, it may answer some of your concerns
