For those who don’t want to watch the whole thing, the falls start at 5:10 👍 I jumped Herbie again today in the school with no problems - it turns out he had three months off before going XC, so it’s little wonder he was feeling quite so full of himself! *PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION* for more info on what happened! 😊❤️

Ha ha OHHH I do love when riders can be humble enough to post videos such as these... they kinda make me smile... I was around 13 or so & had been at my Eventing barn for about 4 years & had been a part time working student for a little over a year one summer when I remember just catching the tail end of a sentence with my name in it- something like "...just have the Cole hop on him for a few minutes... she rode him at a few events last Fall." (I usually got called by either my full or just my last name since there was a VERY hectic 5yr period or so when at the barn there was myself- Carlie Cole- which had an easy enough ring to it to just say the entire 1st & last name, luckily for me- since there was also: my trainer's sister, Karlyn, who went by Karly also, another Karlin, 2 Karens, a Karla, a Carla, a Carrie, a Carol, and a Caroline, and a Carolynne... and I might very well even be forgetting 1 or 2 more C/Kar-s! God it was NEXT LEVEL confusing! So. Cole/Carlie Cole I was.... never JUST CARLIE!) Anyway... the trainer simply asked me if I would quickly just groom & tack up this horse to hack for a few minutes to see how sound he was- I guess since I was not pnly the only barn slave currently "on duty" but also probably because I was just about the only person up there who was at all familiar with riding the big lug after I had Evented at just a couple beginner novice & novice level events the previous Fall when my own horse turned up lame after he got a nasty stone bruise. I didn't even question it- for one, I was still at that fearless, UNTOUCHABLE, *apparently* immortal riding-age when nothing could go POSSIBLY ever go SERIOUSLY wrong, getting physically HURT was so far removed from my realm of thinking it virtually ceased to EXIST as a possibility I life, and even falling off AT ALL was simply a VERY UNCOMMON, very minor little side note in my every day riding life that it might as well have been simply a cautionary tale of what "COULD HAPPEN SONEDAY!" told to me by over-anxious, OLD, ridiculous, fraidy cat ADULTS... Plus, Cortez was one of the quietest, most calm, lazy, fat.... borderline tranquilized-behaved big oaf of a Quarter Horse cross gelding that I almost wanted to come up with some sort of an excuse to NOT ride him simply because he was such a BORE. But, within about 15 minutes, I had lead him tacked up and lead into the indoor arena to the mounting block to hop on... bored already... And no more than perhaps 90seconds later, I was flat on my ass in the hogsfuel footing, sprawled haphazardly across a couple broken arena rail fence boards, with little tweety-birds circling my head.... Welp. I guess getting unseated, let alone bolted off with bronco-style with only 1 foot in the stirrup and launched into the side of the arena WASNT just something that happened in old ladies' riding nightmare stories...? Apparently that old louse Cortez had LITERALLY been on 3 solid months of stall rest until the very moment I took him into the arena that day, unbenounced to me! I was fine... but... I never looked at that old slug in the same light again... Nor did I EVER underestimate the POWER of true "STALL REST" again!!!! .... Twas a very humbling experience to the invulnerable 13yo Event rider.... to say the least!!! Hahaha.

I once fell 3x during one simple ride, no jumps included. It turned out that the belt going under the horse belly , fixing the saddle ( don't know the english name ) was not tight enough and even though I made it as tight as I could, the horse got hurd of it rubbing the skin, and that was why it was so nervous and kept behaving unpleasantly. Totally my fault and I felf so guilty, although I was sure it was as tight as it could :( Anyway. Another time I was riding a horse that threw me right in the single and only paddle in the whole area ;) Luckily this was not a pond. I am glad that you kept going. Cheers.
