World at War does something that other cod games don't. It showed how brutal war could be, it showed the pain and suffering all sides had to go through, even using real footage of the war. It didn't glorify it like black ops or modern warfare, it just told the story of the later years of the war. We need more games/movies like this.

Completely reflects the horrors of war. This time, war is not an adventure, here you see that is truly a massacre. It would have been great if the game had the option to play, at least temporally, as the Japanese or the Germans, to see the other perspective of the war.

Wow, what an eye-opening thought. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that life can be so unfair to people. It really doesn’t make sense, but that’s the truth of the matter. Some music seems to have a deeper meaning behind it, almost as if it’s trying to convey a deeper truth of the universe and life that our minds can detect, but not fully comprehend. This is one of those pieces of music.

This song already tells you a story. The story of war. The song is dark and gritty. It carries a sense of trauma, and fear, and a bleek future. This song always makes me think of D-Day and that terrifying day for the soldiers. They are what we (sorta) are when we listen to this song. The younger fellows are scared while the older people are just creeped out by it. Damn... treyarch did a fantastic job capturing the horrors of war in something fairly simple like a song in the main menu screen of a video game.

DaZeD WW2 has the generic "Your a walking one man army hero of the world" attitude. In this game you felt like you were actually part of an army of soldiers. And firsthand got to witness the horrors and destruction of war.

Black Shinobi World at War captured the horror of war perfectly. Indeed you did feel like 1 of many millions of soldiers fighting a terrible war, but World at War wasn't afraid of showing the brutality and the change that war can cause, it showed that war can change people. That's what was great about this game. WW2 may have it's positives about it but they won't ever compare to World at War imo.

To me WW2 is like the worst cod I've played. Every time you're on multiplayer, you just rage every game. People keep using incidary shells on their shotguns, there's always bouncing Betties everywhere and people just camp all the time. The only thing I like about MP is Prop Hunt. And what I really hate about campaign is you don't auto regenerate like you normally do in all the other cods and you can't use the flamethrower forever. But in this game you can use it long as you want for the whole mission. The gun sounds are a lot better too. Everything about waw is perfect except, veteran is so hard and in MP there's only 3 score streaks

@@ct6480 you will never get the experience the real true vets like myself had, its absolutely saddening the games yall have released for yalls generation, because you will never experience anything like call of duty world at war unless you are true vet as myself... i can proudly say that i was ranked #124 in the world overall in this game before all the hackers appeared in it. that is something millions cannot say that they were once in the top 125 in a cod game, i was crazy in this game and this is the first ever online game i even played... i began in 2009 and an older man introduced it to me and once i found out you could play online and shoot other players in a live environment, it was ON AND POPPING! those dogs in this game were ruthless. it had tanks, it had artillery strike, and it had a monster of a smg, the mp-40, and the browning lmg, i was canning players ... and my favorite game mode was WAR... advanced warfare and a couple other cod games tried their best to have their own push back game mode, but they could never top the WAR mode in COD World at War... i have a sealed copy of this game for xbox 360, and i will never open or sell it!

This game taught me a very simple lesson: war is not fun. It is brutal, and it is cruel. No other CoD ever came close to that message. Before World at War, CoD was a basic "Ra Ra, Go America" shooter. After World at War, CoD was a shoot 'em up with a story ranging from excellent to awful, but no other CoD truly captured what World War II was like for the people who had to fight it.

I just got off Zombies and Im still happy as ever with my waw throwback. Me and a buddy of mine still run private matches on all four maps! Some of the best zombies ive ever played in my life. They keep me young and bring back so many good memories and awsome nights! Ahh them were the days and still are the days! This song is to me, the song of death. Or at least, on the brink of death. Just barely grasping on to life in order to escape whatever godforsaken thing lies ahead. The later part of the song makes me feel that all is well, you’re saved from death, but the ending says other wise, not that you’re going to die, but you’ve escaped death once, you’re safe for now, can you do it again? Will the odds be in your favor?

This is truly one of the best COD themes ever. Period. It just really gives and reflects the eerieness and the unimaginable horrors of the war. This was when Treyarch was at it's best in terms of respect towards those who fought in such a horrific and unforgettable war. One thing is for sure, never say you've been to Hell before in life because they were one of the first to experience it out in battlefields while seeing tons upon tons of fellow soldiers and enemy soldiers getting killed and severely injured in many, countless ways. The sight of it was so unimaginably horrific, that it would give many of the survivors nonstop nightmares for life. It was truly unforgettable. It was a true Hell to them. We owe them a large sum of respect for sacrificing their lives for our country so we could stay safe.

This track has always had me imagining being trapped on the ocean floor, somehow breathing as if I were above surface, BUT theres hideous, terrifying mermaids patrolling the ocean and all I can see when I look up is patches of red clouds, shredded and partially eaten corpses of soldiers. A very dark shade of sea foam green and the sillhouettes of ancient starving humanoid serpents prowling the vicinity is a clear indication that with their rapid, snappy movements, Id end up as just another one of those shredded soldiers in mere moments. *I have 30 seconds to muster up the courage to swim to the surface before Im found and devoured. Sadly, the only way out is UP...*

Never grew up with cod other than watching my older brothers play in their Xbox 360. This is the one game I remember most other ban bo2. This theme used to always terrify me and watching them play zombies I used to have to close my eyes whenever one of them got attacked when playing split screen. I debated buying it on steam but the memories and experience won't be nearly the same. The most I can do I suppose is closing my eyes and listening to this letting those scary memories flood back. World at War. Where to start. This game is probably the darkest, most bone-chilling, and creepy/atmospheric game ever made. It is easily the best game I ever played. Loading into the main menu hearing this bone-chilling theme while seeing the helmets of dead American soldiers with their rifles. Call of Duty did not hold back. It didn't care what your opinion and view were. It just wanted to show the horrors of war and suffering. And so it showed such. Call of Duty is not by any means supposed to be having a happy ending. YOu choose to commit any war crime you want. Because there were countless war crimes during that period. And this game can be easily classified as a horror game. And if it was, it'd be the scariest. It shows how you don't need monsters to be scared. It shows how you don't need jump scares to be scary. It shows the monsters that walk among us right now. Humanity. It shows how these monsters exist in real life. It doesn't matter who is the good guy in the bad guy. They all did horrible things. From the Germans marching in Moscow proudly singing Horst Wessel Lied killing POWs to the Soviets doing the exact same thing but worse. TO the Japanese killing themselves to kill you to the Americans dropping 2 atomic bombs. None of this shows a good side. It all shows pure hatred and despair for the opposite side. And World at War declared that perfectly. It's scary knowing these monsters exist. It is sad to know that this is what people had to go through. And it was not colourful. And I love that. Because ww2 wasn't so vibrant. This game portrays the horrors of war. And can we all just appreciate the bodies flying everywhere from explosions? Or setting people on fire with those flamethrowers? Or the Japanese getting sent back with the trench shotgun? This game portrays everything perfectly. Everyone is shown with no mercy. And there is a swastika here swastika there, Heil Hitler this Heil Hitler that, real footage of Hitler here and there, Stalin here and there, World of War just did not care. It wanted to tell a story. It is a war game. It is not supposed to tell a happy ending. And any war game that does tell a happy ending, is not a war game. World at War easily nailed what no one asked for. No one expected this much brutality and death. No one expected this much bitter hatred and offense. No one expected.. true.. utter.. hell. And that is why this game is great.

Long time ago, When I was ~6 years old. I Cried and cried and cried...… To my mom, Just to let her force my older brother to give me the DS3... The DS3 ooooh booooy, This thing was a technological advancement from my owned DS2... anyhow, I got my hands on his PS3. Inserted WaW, Got my MP40 with Extended mags and karaka-bara-boom. I owned the lobbies I swear. Getting kills from here and there and always the 1st in each lobby is me, The ~6 years old baby who enjoys legs and arms exploding in multiplayer. When BO2 came. Things started to get silly and repetitive. From that time, The beginning of my end had started. I Realized the series isn't made with love anymore, It's all about money. Each year.... EACH FUCKING YEAR... they release a "new" cod. Why.... Why Activision ???. Now look at the money grabbing new cod. MW4, fun game. But destroyed because of the low content and the annoying Skill based matchmaking, and the forced crossplay in warzone, Skins and emotes. all of these I mentioned before, Made the new Activision evil character. Salute for my comrades who played Cod 4,5 and 6. You're the real men ! This series came to an end.

My best CoD memories were from World at War. I remember how much fun S&D used to be, unlike other CoD games where people would rush to plant the bomb, this one had people taking their time and think methodically on how they should approach the enemy. It truly was a game of chess back then and for me it felt like an end of an era.

This was the first COD I ever owned. I had played others but never on multi-player. I miss this game and the multi-player so much. I really hope this game gets revived and isn't tampered with. I would spend unspeakable amounts of money to play this game again while in its prime.

This game described the crude cruelty and inhumanity of war better than any other ww2 game i've ever played. There's nothing glorious or noble about it, everything is dirty, grim, hopeless and haunting, superb depiction of the tragedy that wars are.

Let's go back in time to the glory days of CoD. When there were no quickscoping, raging and lil children crying over a death. Back to the days when CoD was played with fun. Back when CoD had a scary atmosphere. Nowadays, Cod sucks ass. Just like BO4.... Today's kids will never know what it's like to come home, hop onto your PS3 or 360 and plays waves of zombies, co-op campaign or even multiplayer. T^T.

Lol I'm almost 15 years old and I'm a call of duty zoomer. By that, I mean that I'm not a fan of the new cods like BO4 and WW2, but a fan of titles such as WaW, MW2 and MW3. And I agree, back in the days, games we're known for the atmosphere of their storyline and the fun and replayability of the multiplayer. Nowadays the stories are clichéd, the maps in the multiplayer are boring, the multiplayer forces you to buy lootboxes and the community is toxic
