From Kansas, 100% accurate. We had a regular that had been going there everyday for 11 years. In that time he’s only missed a handful of days (funerals/hospital etc). They made a button on the POS system for him, so that anytime prices went up, his drink stayed the same price from 11 years ago.

I used to own a bar in a small town in the northern parts of Sweden. I could literally leave the bar for an hour, and when I came back the beer was gone and my cash register was full of cash. Sometimes I came back and by regulars was busy sweeping the floor. No dog though, but there was a big black stray cat that decided to move in. He had his own spot on a table in a corner. Good ol' times :)

Was at a hotel bar with a bunch of pipeline guys. They drank it dry of miller light so one of them went to the nearest convenience store and bought another 30-rack. I’m from Denmark and we have a small town local bar like that. Everyone knows everybody. And if we haven’t seen one of the locals for a few days we call if he/she is alright. Every person comes in at different times of the day. We help the bar owner whenever she needs help. Refilling the cooler etc or if it is something heavy, she always repays with a round even though she doesn’t have to, but it is her way to say thank you for the help. If she needs to leave for 5 min she always tells us to take care of the bar until she gets back, which we then do. We know how to operate the cashier. I love that little place. It is my free space where friends meet and come together. God bless that little place and every people there.

I worked as a bartender in a small town bar for a few years...this felt more like a documentary than a sketch. Unironically I have seen all that and more cooky quirky small town stuff. Like we had a post office in the bar area, so people would check their mail and hang out for a while. We had cups instead of chips, but you'd have someone come in with a stash of them they saved up and drinks would go to every which part of the bar. We had smoking in our bar, so the smoke break thing didn't happen...much. Great video. Makes me look back at the good 'ol days before I went into management.

Back in the day when I was a waitress, my brain was completely ingrained where all the beverage areas were. When I left for greener pastures I'd go back with family to eat. I'd have the entire table served drinks, took the salad/appetizer orders, be hunting in the dry storage for those flipping club crackers that everyone wanted before I remembered I didn't work there anymore. Years ago went camping near a small tourist town in SW MN, we skipped the tourist bar and went to the town bar for drinks. A local at the bar kind of side-eyed us and asked, "Who's boy are you?" trying to figure out how we fit in. The answer was that we were camping on farm land and the farmer was a friend of the local brother in law. That opened everything up for us, instant friends to everyone in the bar.

Then call him out for slacking. Also you can get blackout of drunk and forget to pay the tab, but bartenders don't sweat because they'll know you'll be back soon. 😉
