Actually the eyes originated from a different analog horror series called The Walten Files. Alex Kister, creator of Mandela Catalogue, has said to have had huge inspirations from said horror series, and hence it is reasonable to assume that he got the eyes from there.

Random story idea: "You and your friend sit huddled down in front of the fire that you built. Ever since those alternates started causing problems, you two fled to hopefully find somewhere safe from them. You decide to set up your tent, as you are getting pretty tired and you don't know how long your eyes can stay open. While you set it up, however, you hear some rustling in the distance. After further inspection, you see the silhouette of a person, who seems to be exploring the woods you are currently in. As you have not had any form of human interaction for three days, outside of your friend, you are fairly excited to see this. You turn to your friend exclaiming: "dude, look! A person!" As your friend, too, has not had much human interaction in a while, they reply with an enthusiastic "come on, they could know a safe place in here!" By this point, you have entirely forgotten the existence of alternates, which soon dawn's on you as you approach the figure; their limbs seem much longer than they should, their body seems to be almost melting, and at last, they turn around to show their horribly distorted grin. They quickly grab your friend by their neck, and after a frightening snap, turn to you. You immediately start sprinting away from it, scared for your life as to what it might do to you, all the while hearing it say in a distorted voice: "I'll catch you, I'll catch you, I'll catch you" in a repetitive form. In a quick moment of fear that you won't escape, you trip over your own foot, hitting the ground hard. The alternate pucks you up by your neck, but doesn't kill you, instead holding you closer to it's face and saying something in a strange, unrecognizable language; but you know what it said. You wish you could forget. You limp back to camp, as you take one of the rods for your friend's tank, and impale yourself..."
