the truth tho, modern games are waaaay more complex to make, requires way more people and time to program, and its becoming harder and harder to come up with original ideas for a restricted theme/gameplay. but i understand the point, rockstar is focusing more in milking the cow than actually make GTAV a good game. thank god for modders, since FiveM launched in 2016 i never played gta online again, waaaaaaaaaay more fun in it.
@ghgtare5 жыл бұрын
@@drewinsur7321 GTAO gave them a huge financial stability. They can now afford to not release a new game every single year and instead focus on giving their future releases more production value. RDR2 wouldn't have been as gigantic and packed full of content as it was without all the money GTAO is making for Rockstar. Sometimes I think you people would rather have Rockstar follow the Ubisoft approach with the Assasin's Creed franchise and milk the series dry by making annual releases until no one cares about it anymore.

The controversy around in the UK was huge, there was some organisation called "Mothers against violent gaming" protesting about it... which didn't actually exist, it was Max Clifford's doing XD. It was also one of the first times gaming in the UK moved away from the advisory ESRB rating system and got rated by the BBFC (who rate films) instead. The BBFC's ratings actually have legal status and they gave GTA an instant 18 rating (it was nowhere near violent or sexy enough to have earned that rating). I played the hell out of the Playstation version but always had to not do missions when my mum or dad came in the room, in case they saw the swearing on the screen.

A little disappointing he failed to mention how integral Rockstar adopting the Euphoria physics engine was. Real time physics rendering was one of the bigger sales points for GTA IV sense most games at the time utilized baked dynamic animations in place of a proper physics engine. It was a technical achievement to have this running parallel to such a detailed open world, so much so that it ended up pushing other game makers to go bigger and subsequently launched us into the golden age of gaming.

Humorously enough, I'm 21 years old and my mom still despises the game, refusing to let us play it at her house, OR play it even around her in my apartment. Oh, I was 10 when I first played GTA Vice City at my friends' house. So I told my parents the game taught money management and business so they could buy it for me. On the night I finally got to play it, my Dad sat behind me and observed this so-called business management game. As soon as I stepped outside of Ken Rosenberg's office, I killed a hooker and took $10 off of her. He just went, "that's enough", took the game out of the PS2 and snapped it lmao. I ended up borrowing the game off of one of my friends and I'd play it when my Dad wasn't home. I didn't have a memory card so I'd constantly start at the beginning of the game. Now that I look back, I nearly beat the entire game in one sitting. I just knew how to speed run the game. I used a lot of cheats too, obviously. Amazing memories tbh.
