the module is only for the clients for them to simulate water, the addon itself handles the multiplayer and game aspect of water basically all you have to do is get the addon on your server, your players will need the module to see the water though

a virus total scan said the Gwater.exehad a Trojan or some malicious files. My pc is now been running a bit slower than usual,and I’m kinda freaked out. What happened here?

the installer doesn't do anything besides copy the needed files to the gmod installation, any other slowdown is either because gwater itself is pretty complex to run, or just coincidence if you want you can decompile the installer with dnSpy and see the code for yourself, the closest part to a virus in it is that it has a 3/100 chance of turning into amogus v1.4 setup lol

if it's on your server your friend doesn't have to install the addon, but they will need the gwater module for the water simulation to work properly

don't worry it's just a joke that has a 1/50 chance of happening, it still does install gwater if you don't trust the installer you can always try using the zip file instead to install
