We're not even a week into the new season and I'm already tired of playing against Renfri decks almost every game. This deck was designed as a hard counter to the different variants going around. In this video I talk about card selection, reasoning and strategy before playing 5 games with live commentary for reference.

Renfi is a neat idea, but it's just absurdly OP with not enough restrictions, probably the most OP card ever created. Make it Power 3 for 14 Prov or require something dumb like 27 units in deck.

nah, this will ruin the card. I believe that the problem is ability to use leader and refresh it. i think Renfri should be 14 provision 4-6 power and replaces your leader at start of the game( U start with her on board with immunity and choose Your leader by Renfris order with Your leader disabled at start) AND rework her curses and blessings

Renfri's curse actually needs to be "a curse", something that harms the player for using Renfri. Until they rework Renfri, the game is on the wrong path.

Honestly, why would you even play It then? Why would you play a card with part of its effect being damaging to you? The problem, as often in Gwent, is overtuning. Numbers being too high, not the actual effects seen at play. It was so with Milva, it was so with Alumni, it is now with her. Also GN, fuck GN. I'll take Renfri any day of the week over GN.

i've just made a new account to avoid facing renfri decks. I've had so much fun playing against people with gimmick/normal decks after so much time. To be fair i'm a bit resentful towards high ladder players. Most of them just brainlessly copy the top meta deck and make the game less enjoyable for everyone else. I just wish they kept unranked mode, because i don't want to rank up again and also because for some strange reason whenever i'm in training mode i still face clowns with tier 1 decks.

Imho Renfri will ruin game,i understand that people likes to try new cards and experiment with them which is ok,but again its frustrating to play game in which every matchup is NG Renfri spam or something like that.2nd u dont need to carefully play ur leader abillity.U can just use Renfri and her broken curses witch is enromus advantage imho. And yes these days u cant find decks like Siege or Saskia or MO bleeding or selfwound. Its just Renfri Renfri Renfri. In my opinion if they add more cards like this Leader abillity will be unimportant. Renfri needs a complete re-work. As I have said before there is simply no downside to 'Curses' and the average leader playing for 20-30 points is not on par with other leaders that often play for 9-10 by themselves without synergy. She's a neutral Damien without row lock, activates on deploy, has 1 power more, and instead of refreshing your 9-10 point leader gives you a 20-30 point leader (sometimes more or less perhaps) that can single-handedly counter an efficient R2 bleed or upset your usually favored long round. There is no downside to the card. The deckbuilding condition is not a handicap at all. Removing specials actually maximizes your provisions by putting all of your gameplan into units, which, with the utility of 25 units just pick your flavor. Turbo-thin, lock, destroy, movement, purify, hand-fix, draw, buff, damage, resilience. On it goes. Curses need to have a firm mechanical drawback. Renfri should banish self on deploy, give you a shiny new leader but come with a serious downside. You could even retain the dual leader but add an additional negative effect. It could even have a condition that the leader needs to be used in the round you play it to prevent carry-over.

As a newish player I've hated playing this season. I can't play ranked or seasonal cause I haven't got the experience of the new cards and still to new to have the good cards from other expansions. So I haven't played all week and it sucks cause I enjoy Gwent. I had the thought today cause I enjoy the Kelly deck and it's toxic but it wins. Yrden is a super low skill card that’s either a 11 provision Insta brick or Insta win in certain match ups. Sure it’ll beat cat decks but against most renfri decks and skellige decks, both of which are running rampant on the ladder, having an 11 provision “do nothing” is mega sad.

HOT take here!!!..Ren allows for creative decks that can compete. yea the card needs to be reworked a little. But there are players who are talking about less skilled players running Ren. It has nothing to do with skill....there are those who run Meta or borderline metta....play those boring decks over and over and climb the ladder. Then there are the creative players , they're not less skilled they just like building crazy decks and having fun, I've climbed the ladder before with Metta's it's so boring. So I'll just stick around Ranks 5-7 where all the fun is.

I lost quite a bit of interest after just a few games with this patch. Renfri is a big reason yes, but I find cultists equally annoying. They all have their own different infusions and there's no way knowing what type of infusion unless reading the card. With a lot of infusions on the board, it's impossible for me to count the points before times out. Maybe it gets better once I get more familiar with it, but I honestly play a lot less already.

It’s Renfri Season and I believe we‘ve to accept this. Also I believe it’s okay that CDPR promotes the new cards and makes them a bit OP to do so. We should not forget that the majority of Gwent Players play much less games than the Pro Players. And they also should have success with the new cards. If the new cards aren’t working for them they will not come back next season and as a result the community becomes smaller and smaller. And I guess everybody could imagine what this would mean. PS: I’m quite successful with SY Firesworn and SY Salamander against most Renfri and Kitty decks. (but Pirates are tricky with this two decks)

So there is something important you should know about how Kelly targets low powered units and this goes with everything else in Gwent. If multiple units on your enemy's side of the battlefield tie for the lowest power, Gwent will pick the one on the ranged row first on the furthest left and destroy that one. Same goes for melee row if there are no ranged units there ready to be targeted. edit: nvm

Playing this game is my job though, I'm allowed to complain. 💀The point I'm trying to make is that it is very easy to just jam Renfri into a deck with a few thinning options and depending on faction or archetype throw a couple combo pieces in and you have a deck. The card is so strong that it can make less skilled players win games they normally shouldn't have and for creators like me who consider building decks an artform it takes a lot away from this. It's unfair that I'm at a severe disadvantage because I choose to not run 1 card in the game.

@@Qcento You can always swim upstream. Or you can swim downstream for the remaining 30 days of the season and show your viewers the possibilities of the new cards. And in the next step you can show how to beat them. And as somebody who is making money with the game you should be an ambassador for the game like TheaBeasty or Lionhart. You will nothing win when people leave the game. There is a fine line between constructive criticism and destructive complaining.
