Thanks. Good to see the cast and crew all working hard to make a fairy tale look real.

Nice clips. AMC has been showing the move all night. Pretty amazing to see the actor who played the doctor was born in the 1860's just a few years after the Civil War.

Those shots of Scarlett, entranced, in the New Orleans restaurant on their honeymoon, after living on yams and dried peas during and after the war. Rhett, bemused, in the book advised her not to scrape her plate, “There’s more in the kitchen. You need only ask the waiter.” And she ordered another pastry, stuffed with meringue and “thick with chocolate”! I’d look entranced too!

Yes Rebecca, it's Olivia de Havilland... No stand-in there, only the real stuff :) And imagine all the footage still to be discovered in some vault or Hollywood garage...

Yes, I quite agree. Somewhere, there must be some footage never shown before. As a matter of fact in the first sequence of The Making of a Legend, there are - in little vignettes - some screen tests that I have never seen in full screen... So, let's hope somebody will made them public one day...

@Tanguynew08 AMC (America Movie Classics) is a major cable movie channel that features film classics. I'm sure a lot of people watched GWTW yesterday (I saw it twice). If your video counts go up this week AMC might be why. I did know about the old Civil War Vets from watching a Making of GWTW video. I just never realized Meade was so old. I live just 30 minutes north of New York City. Olivier and Leigh once lived in a house close by in Snedens Landing, an artist's colony near Nyack

OOOH!!! I missed this one Tanguy!!! Wow it's fun to see, in color. I hadn't seen that - I saw some behind-the-scenes color footage on the news that was found a year or so ago, but it seemed to be the stand-ins mostly. THIS WAS NO STAND-IN. THIS WAS VIVIEN LEIGH!!! And Clark. Looking dashing!! (I've always loved that dress btw). Is that really Olivia? I couldn't tell if that was the stand-in or the real Melly. Anyway thanks for another great video!!! xxxoo

Can’t believe this was all filmed on a backlot in sunny California.

I believe this barbecue scene was filmed at Busch Gardens in So Cal, no longer in existence.

Thank you so much Tanguy for posting this unbelievable footage! I keep hoping some lost footage from GWTW will be discovered some day. I suppose you are familiar with the pictures from the original last scene that was shot and which were on sale on Ebay some time ago. In my opinion if they have survived, so have some of the scenes that were cut. Don't you think? Besides, why would the GWTW test scenes have survived and not the scenes that were cut because it was deemed too long?

@ParisLondonRoma What is AMC ? Sorry, never heard of that. These new clips were part of a special show organized by Archivio Aperto in Bologna (Italy). I was thrilled to discover them. Never had seen those before. Yes, Harry Davenport, who played Doctor Meade was quite old enough to have know the post Civil War. But do remember that actual veterans of the war were invited to the Premiere in Atlanta in december 39...

@ParisLondonRoma Oh I see... Sorry... Didn't know about that channel... Understand better what you meant. I live in France and had no idea GWTW had been on the cable recently in the US (although I wonder, if there is a minute in the whole world, where this film is not shown somewhere...) How interesting you are living not far from Snedens Landing... Yes I remember the Oliviers lived there (was it when they were playing Romeo and Juliet ?)

Cancelled Racists. At least that's what I'm told now. Still a good film imo.
