Amazon japan pro tip: if you preorder more then 1 item the shipping stays just at the 1 price. Like I preorder Chizuru and then I ordered in the same order some stuff from Sanrio and I didn't pay any additional shipping even though it's two shipments. So if you order two figures at the same time, even if they ship different months, the shipping is usually combined to a lower price or just whichever one is the highest. Also the duty ahead of time is 1/4 of what dhl tries to charge.
@goldengadd3 жыл бұрын
I think my main problem with eStream is that you spend a lot and it's basically a lottery to get good quality control and I personally would not want to coin flip $400-500 or so. But I do think their sculpts are good, just wished the quality matched how good the sculpts are.

@@GwynCollects I personally wouldn't bother with estream. I love the new rem/ram skating ones but I can't justify it for myself. I think they are gorgeous though, props to anyone who wants to buy em. I would say though things like those mikus that are 300 with nothing happening , definitely not worth it. There are 1000s of mikus, not worth dropping estream level money on something that is basic.

I think the problem with estream is that they marketed themselves as a deluxe figure company, and so when people have problems with their figure they get mad which is understandable when the figure goes for over $300. The way that they marketed themselves set a high bar and when you build up hype and when they don’t deliver people get pissed.

The eStream topic is polarizing to a degree that seriously bewilders me as a longtime collector. No figure or company is above criticism, but somehow this one publisher has evoked so much malice and vitriol within the community that debating their merits tends to break down into personal attacks and shaming. Anyway, thank you for your nuanced take and I hope you don't receive too much flak for it.

about the drama, i do think its justified, since companies only change when the community causes a scene, but i do think its kinda targeted too, but i also think its better to focus on only one comapny until they change, and then "target" another company, i have seen that happening in the gaming community

I think the rising prices are for a mixture of reasons, some I can understand and others that are unjustifiable. Covid of course is a major issue, but universally, there is a major plastic shortage, PVC and all that, even my job where we purchase that material has been severely affected, to the point we're fighting other companies in a bidding war to get these materials. So that, I feel, is a top reason to why prices are rising. However, not only is this hobby getting more popular, but certain brands are getting their name out there and are now tacking on those extra fees just for that. Like buying a regular hoodie or SUPREME hoodie that $75 more just to own the name itself. Some highly detailed figures are priced fairly, though expensively, but god that Miku one is just ridiculous.

I think you are being a little too easy on Estream. Yes, they have elaborate figures that generally look good, but the problems they have are completely unacceptable when the figure costs nearly half a grand. At that price improper fitment and poor design/packaging that causes a higher probability of broken figures is totally unacceptable. There is no way Estream did not know about the cape issue. They knew they had a manufacturing flaw and released the figure anyway. When other manufacturers see that people are willing to pay nearly $500 USD for a figure, even when it has known design flaws, why wouldn't they also inflate their prices across the board? That's my biggest issue with Estream. It has a net negative effect on the hobby when a company knowingly releases a flawed figure to consumers and still has the balls to continue pricing their products like they are the gold standard when they arent. I dont fault anyone for buying a figure they love, but we should all be more mindful of the big picture when throwing thousands of dollars at anime figure companies, myself included. I think the anger towards Estream is justified, and I also think it's a good sign that a large portion of the community is posting "red flags" around Estream as a company.

I have a few things to say. Regarding estream, I do think they overcharge for what you get some, but they aren't the worst company out there and I think they would get less hate if they made it so you could just buy the figure instead of needing to get the figure and the elaborate bass. I do think that Megumin turned out really well, especially in the paint department, but personally I am more worried over how she will hold up over time. For Miku, personally I would skip her. I don't see anything particularly unique about her or different in terms of outfit or pose. Especially when you compare it to the 5rh anniversary one. Another way to pick is to think if you were to not buy either and they both turned out the same in quality and triples in the after market which one would you regret not buying more? That is the one I would get then. I hope that helps
@kuzuryugundam66703 жыл бұрын
I go back and forth on estream. I’m currently not working so money is tight however even with a more stable money flow I’d still be hesitant to buy an estream figure. While I understand that they are pushing the limits and trying new things it’s really tough for people to justify paying such a huge price for big mistakes. It would be like an Olympic gymnast doing all these crazy new twists in the air but missing the landing completely- would she still get gold medal or in the case of estream be deserving of the price tag? I would argue not. Even if you do crazy innovative things if you can’t stick the landing time and time again majority of people are going to stop rooting for you and put their money elsewhere. Especially when the figure market is so saturated now with new figure companies that are doing crazy detailing and sculpt with no mistakes. The tolerance for lack of quality is low. I believe for estreams longevity they need to get a handle on the issue because much like the Olympics or anything in life there will always be a new rising star ready to take your place so you got to work to keep it because doing the same old routine only gets you so far.

I am a rem crystal dress estream figure owner and I am super happy with her, when o heard of her coming broken i made sure to change her shipping method to the fastest and safest way possible and I was lucky to have a PO with amiami so came safe and sound, but unfortunately many didn’t and it’s so horrible to see!! I have yet to order from them again since their prices can be really crazy sometimes, but I think the price for rem was quite fair despite the lack of protection for shipping. I have lost lots of faith in them as a company since all the drama recently but I can’t help but admit I’m very happy with rem she is a grail in my collection! I do think that Estream is getting a LITTLE too much hate and people are going overboard with the personal attacks, but I understand that it is slightly justified. For the E-stream's megumin not using metal pegs, I think they could have used metal pegs, but at the same time, is it a must? Yes and no in my opinion. Megumin comes already attached to the base, and the only reason why you should take her off the base is to remove the plastic, and even then, you can just cut the plastic carefully with scissors. You don't really need to remove her off the base for assembly. And if someone is actually struggling to remove her off the base, they could always try warming up the peg area with a hair dryer to loosen up the joint, I kind of doubt the majority of people did that when removing megumin off the base. As for the cape issue, I think it is unacceptable to have that problem. Quality Control is supposed to test every batch during the entire manufacturing process because the machine's performance changes overtime, so it's important for the technician to adjust it based on the situation. However, the user should be able to fix it moderately easily by shaving the peg down a little bit to make it easier to fit in. Although these issues could have been prevented from alpha satellite/e-stream, I don't think the issues are necessarily something that should prevent buyers from purchasing. Overall, the concept of preordering is just a volatile concept in my opinion. Just like for the video games, there is an ongoing debate to not preorder games because it essentially tells the developers that they can produce an incomplete product and fix it along the way. The same concept generally applies to figures. If people are worried about e-stream's quality, they can opt to not preorder and wait for reviews of the actual product and then purchase it at retail price. Many if not all e-stream figures sit on the market, even after preorders close, so it should be fine for those who are warry of what to expect. Even megumin is still available on a lot of retail websites (amiami, tokyo otaku mode, etc...)

I really liked this style of video! Also, you made me want to buy anime prints and put them behind my detolfs! Regarding both Mikus, I thought about them for a couple of days and decided to preorder them. Their bases are super cute and detailed for me and I really love their colors. Maybe think if they would fit a theme or shelf in your detolfs before buying :) Also, maybe compare them to other figures in your top list (maybe you might want to separate your wanted figures in tiers of most wanted for price?). Maybe that could help you decide! I think Furyu delivers on their figures! Even their prize figures are stunning! I have many prize figures from them and they are my favourite prize figures. Regarding eStream, I think their shading and paint are amazing. The faces look immaculate in my opinion. That said, I am not sure if I would bite the bullet just yet because of the quality issues. Some of their figures have amazing sculpts, colours and shading, but I wouldn't want to get a broken figure in the mail at that price. I don't own any yet and I am waiting for them to fix their issues first :) I hope it will be worth the wait!

I can't believe how crazy the prices have gotten, and I really doubt that they will ever go down again if these companies really have people out here paying these insane markups. It does make me doubt staying in the hobby, because I don't feel that I get value for my money. Yes, I love my scales and the emotional value on them is so high that it makes it worth it. But from a tactical standpoint, it's 3-400 CAD for a hunk of plastic that sits on a shelf. Especially when just a few months ago, they were so much cheaper for the same quality and craftsmanship.

Totally agree with you about eStream, in general prices have gone up and they are just an easy figure company to pick on. I think its terrible for collectors to be hating on other collectors just cause someone likes a figure or company they don't; they should go look in a mirror cause the only losers are themselves. I love your Megumin eStream figure, I seriously thought about getting it after your video but already own the Wedding dress one by FuRyu. FuRyu figures can have small quality issues, their colors seem kind of dull to me, and they are super expensive. I have 4 and only 1 arrived perfect, but still would buy them again even knowing this. Keep up the great videos and looking forward to a new Animbae, Gwyn, and Daijoububu collaboration video.

I think the reason estream gets so much hate is because it is a combination of issues that are already bad individually. The pricing is much higher than what other manufacturers charge. Half of the price goes into plastic effect pieces that most people could do without or have less of. The quality for these overpriced figures is a gamble. The painting/shading is subpar and doesn't match the quality of much cheaper figures. The worst part for me is the fact that they have these amazing sculpts, but get ruined by all the issues.
@Echo11Niner3 жыл бұрын
I'm one of those people who saw your video about Estreams Megumin and went to go order the figure from AmiAmi because she looked really great. And yes they still haven't shipped them out yet and its getting to the later part of November. I know that estream has problems with some figures but I've gone ahead and ordered multiple figures through AmiAmi and Crunchyroll so I'm taking a huge gamble. Those include Crystal Demon Rem, Ultimate Rimuru, Re:Zero Neon City Emila and Ram. I want to believe that the company will fix these issues before some of the unreleased figures come out, but that may be me just being optimistic. Either way I'm not letting the drama get to me, mostly because there are other great figures coming out every week so I'm giving them my undivided attention.

I had the cape problem with megumin but don’t really have an issue with it. I didn’t even end up getting it in properly because I was scared of it breaking but I can’t really see what difference it would make visually if I did force it to click in all the way. I’m suprised people are feeling so negative, If anything I just want more figures by this company so much more now.

I feel a bit bad since figure collecting became reasonable for me since the UK changed custom taxes to items of over £135, so a lot of figures are more affordable than figures for American, Canadian and Australian collectors. Not to mention EMS is still available for us. This means the Junji Ito Tomie costs half of what it would for you guys, or the ART FXJ AOT figures being £95 after shipping. It’s very crazy.

FURYU is kind of on my shit list currently, I got their Kokkoro figure; she was super delicate and didn't fit onto her base, I broke her trying to assemble her and had to use an exacto knife to shave down her base peg 😭 Myethos though!! Favorite figure company of all time, I just got the Miku figure and she's my 5th Myethos fig 😍 they always deliver with stunning figures. I love this kind of video, please do more! 🥰

YOO THE JAPANESE STYLE TECHGEAR FIGURE YEEESSSSS!! From the moment I saw her concept art I knew she'd be mine. She's absolutely incredible I cannot wait for her 💗 I also preordered the Chiaki figure from Funimation. I haven't recieved her yet but I am absolutely terrified that I'll get one of the defective figures. From what I'm hearing, the company isn't replacing or refunding anything 😢

Omg the price thing! I started out like oh you know I won't buy any figures over 12000 yen but now every other purchase is over 24000-29000, I miss prize figure collecting

I feel the same way about Digital Stars Miku! I love her, but not 29K yen love her.... Especially when Miku already has so many beautiful figures that are much cheaper. Prices are starting to become unjustified. I started collecting figures seriously in 2013. There were scales that retailed for 8k yen back then. 8k!!! (Though I think 10-12k was most common.) Figures cost double that on average now.

Someone will say again that I am complaining, but in recent years, prices are really skyrocketing. Thank you for the amazon tips (now I'm more reassured by the already ordered hololive: Houshou Marine). E-stream. I don't like it more and more. The price doesn't go through me. That’s why I didn’t order Kurumi Tokisaki even though I have most of her figures. She just didn’t convince me for that price. Maybe after the release with a reduced price .... This view from behind on Shoshu also convinced me right from the start ... now that I can buy it cheaper than in sugotoys or amiami it goes to order. Price ... that's what we all want! Dang. I'm still waiting for the lovely Hatsune M. by Myethos - it will be the most beautiful in the collection in an acrylic box + partition. That's all for now ;)

Hope you're staying safe with all the flooding! Idk how nearby that is to you but please be safe! Also I am completely with you with the Digital Stars Miku!! She looks soooooo amazing but 29k yen is just too much. FuRyu makes nice figures, but idk if I'd ever say they're worth the 20k+ yen that they charge. I also feel kind of conflicted when it comes to scales of Miku. She has so many amazing prize figures that it gets hard to justify getting a scale. Are you excited for the Nanami nendoroid to come out? If he doesnt have a bread accessory I'm going to be a bit upset lol. Also I need a Megumi nendo rerelease asap. As always it's a joy to hear you're opinions on figures and collecting! I really enjoy the more laid-back style content too.

I received my Mamako Bunny 3 days ago and she is great, but be warned she comes with a 2nd base so you can have Chiyo and Mamako standing together. In my case I already had Chiyo and she forced my hand in to buying Mamako. :)

Yes ! I'm the same, when in Amazon i like to get things that are buy and ship from Amazon directly, their quality control for boxes isn't very good, i got some damaged boxes and it was really annoying, but the security of getting a for sure original figure and a for sure refund if anything happens is worth the box damage if it happens

Same like you i started collecting one year ago. I've seen the prices rise quite a bit but i didn't stop me from buying figures. I guess i'm okay with paying like €200 for a 1/7 scale figure.

Long comment incoming 😅: The reason I'm not buying eStream is, because its just too expensive to justify. Unless (!) they are as "cheap" as Gojo Satoru figure. Because I did order Gojo from eStream. I'm also eyeing Yui and Yukino from RomCom Snafu also by eStream, because thats 2 figures in 1, so a bit more justifiable. I'm quite new to figure collecting and I never knew figures used to be cheaper (I did buy some nendoroids and such years ago, but wasnt into figure collecting). I'm okay with the pricetag IF it goes up until 20k yen, OR its one of my fave character with nice sculpture OR 1/4 scales, then I'm okay with 30k yen. Higher than that...is a no for me! 😬
