Do the copper valve seats have a shorter lifespan?
@paulskartslifan4206 Жыл бұрын
Well firs question is shorter lifespan than what ? They last “in these applications” a lifetime .. in a car (racing engine) they can wear out over time like any seat can.. but I wouldn’t say they wear out fast. But the copper is softer than steel. That’s why they seal so well. They deaden the bounce of the valves. Also the seats stay in the head tighter than iron seats. They also take the heat out of the valves faster. So I’d say to answer the question of if there going to wear faster than iron seats “yes” slightly but the use of them for there benefits is why we use them. Usually the more power and faster you go the less longevity of the engine is sacrificed through wear and tear.
