They put her up for adoption, it's cruel to say any parent who does that is abandoning their child. The fact is, they came from an extremely poor region in Romania and knew they couldn't afford any medical treatment for their new daughter, so they made a painful, impossible decision and gave her up to the possibility of an actual life. More parents should do that.
