The most infuriating part about this was when one of the Senators said, "If and when we do something..." IF?!? Are you kidding me?! That right there PROVES that there's no certainty this will ever be dealt with. If that's your immediate response it shows you already have doubts in your mind that justice will come.
@teresamorgan45292 жыл бұрын
The senator immediately corrected herself.
@sydneyjohnson13362 жыл бұрын
@@teresamorgan4529 actually she didn't. In speaking of doing justice for these victims, she said, "You have played a big role, if and when we do, of making it happen," and then she ended her speech. There was no correction. I'm talking about the Senator at 44:10 who said she hopes and believes they will take action. She was trying to be kind to them, but using that kind of uncertain language is incredibly discouraging to women who have already waited six years for justice. If you tell an abuse victim "if" you receive justice, that just shows that you're already including the option in your mind that they won't. She should have stated strongly and emphatically, "We WILL take action on this immediately." That would not only bring true hope to these victims, but it would also put a healthy pressure on the other Senators to actually take action and fulfill their promises.
@kathrync86322 жыл бұрын
I caught that too. It is precisely THAT type of thing that continues to victimize all over again. I guarantee you that her "if and when" statement is what took the greatest toll on these gymnasts that day. After all of this time, after all of the testimonies... there is an IF??!!! What does that say to them?! AGAIN, their trauma is marginalized. THEY feel marginalized as people. They have been pleading to those in authority for years, "Please help us!" They finally get the ear of an entity they think will step up... and they hear "IF" It's devastating.

Not to mention they aren’t (by law I believe) permitted to question a minor without a parent present.
@asparagus54282 жыл бұрын
There's nothing not run by men. That's why "we" barely investigate and prosecute CSA and r, at all. That's why every time a woman tells her story comedians do a belittlement routine and men show up with full name in the media to shout "not all men" and "we don't have the facts, she's probably lying for attention, that's how women are". That's why we live in a pornified culture and why the Google men delete any mention of the "s. trade" using the words that correctly describe it that was the end of this sentence. It happens to me every day. They don't allow the mention of the words that simply denote it.
@dgexpressllc74502 жыл бұрын
That is true - I would be livid if I were the parent and found out my child was interrogated for child abuse by ANYONE and I was not present- especially if it pertains to someone in power that was close to my child! The interrogators should be removed IMMEDIATELY without pay and should not be allowed to work for the FBI (or any similar position) again! I am sure if the parents were involved in the initial interrogation, the FBI probably wouldn't have taken their sweet time or even consider hiding the facts!

The safety of these young girls should have been the number one priority, and everyone around them, especially the FBI, failed. Every single adult involved should have put their full effort in reporting these abuses and getting the word out that there were children being harmed. Why are they making these women, who have already been through so much, testify for action against these FBI agents when they should have already been fired, and at the very least, made to serve time for their crimes? This is all words. There has been no action up until now, and I worry that there won't be.

The craziest thing about this case for me was that he did his abuse in plain sight. He did it with the victims own parents in the room. He was so confident in the fact that he could get away with his abuse and unfortunately for a lot of years he was right. No one wanted to question this “amazing doctor”. This pillar of the community who was kept there by the institutions that enabled his abuse to continue. If anyone would have listen to the victims who reported him back in the 90’s, he would have never gotten to the status he was at. That status emboldened him to abuse hundreds. The fact that even the FBI was more concerned about not tainting the 2016 Olympics with a investigation into one of its most prominent doctors, just confirms to me that even they were more concerned with medals and money over the gymnast who made it possible. The lead investigator on the FBI case was offered a job by USA gymnastics. How is that not a conflict of interest? I can’t believe it’s taken this long just to prove that yes there was a cover up, when it was so obvious to everyone that looked into the facts of this case back when Nassar was originally sentenced.

How is this possible in your country? More than 300 abuses and during several years with no reaction during such a long period. For me this is unbelievable. One could think we talking of Afghanistan, no we are talking of USA. This is not the greatest country in the world. Where is FBI, the USAG or USOC?

The one comment made by Sen. Feinstein, sticks in my mind because she stated it more than once was, “if and when…” What did she mean, if and when they get something done? These young women have already spent years waiting and petitioning for the organizations to have charges filed against them. They should have their therapy paid for by Nassau and the organizations who ignored them and other monies to be paid to the women or organizations these women choose.

Exactly my thoughts. Sen Feinstein sat across the table in her office listening while these distraught young ladies cried their hearts out having to recount their horrific experiences. How is it possible that she matter of factly, in a dead pan voice, responded with “if and when?” What a heartless disgusting woman!

To all these amazing and strong women that stood up in court and denounced this monster Larry Nassar, I am sorry is too little, I am ashamed to be a young man, knowing that a man did that to you all and can potentially do that to someone else’s daughter. When a person does that to you, he is a pathetic coward and not a man. At 32, I have promised myself to always listen and not question when a woman says something like that, it has to be true and it must be immediately taken seriously, a woman would never jeopardize her integrity by publicly saying she was abused if it wasn’t true. Thank god some of us are raised decently by our parents. I cried when I watched this video, I was horrified. I pray for your continued strength in womanhood.

Tragic dare election of duty wonder how much money it cost them for them to not do their job. I can only imagine there's money to be made off of these girls from the organizations that spring up on the backs of their talent

I Love you girls so much! God bless you for being so brave and strong! I can't even imagine how hard this has been and traumatizing, that I am bawling for you! The fact that you are so publically enduring something so traumatic in front of our leaders, who seem so unsympathetic. This must be almost as traumatizing as the actual abuse! I am so ashamed of our leaders, and I am so so sorry to you, our beautiful children! You deserve and will get the greatest rewards in Heaven! I love you so dearly and praying for you! God bless you!

Video time stamp at 28:30, comment from Mr. Durbin. No truer statement. He says: "I've been in a lot of committee hearings; I can't remember compelling testimony like we've heard this morning ever before because you had the courage to come up and tell the world what happened to you."

What about the girls and boys that they actually did repot it and the judges let their abusers go free what happens to them? Proof is in the pudding these young women will be haunted by this for the rest of their lives,by this monster, but its just talk until something is done it will continue and now its in your hands.

USA Team gymnasts testified about this situation before Congress... THREE YEARS AGO. And we are still kicking the can down the road. Unlike this testimony with the Senate, the Congress actually spent considerable time asking really insightful questions of the athletes in an effort to better understand HOW this occurs and what things could get to the heart of interrupting this systemic abuse. THREE YEARS AGO this was done with Congress. Yet, here we are--with no forward motion and no additional accountability demanded of those who have enabled these horrific acts.

Perhaps they can organize and create a privet inspection teem that can help to supervise this type of investigations and procedures, so that necesary steps are followed, and maybe have a epresentative of the same who can acompany the victim in each steps of the process, and taht the victims can go to them first if they need it. Way and to prevent this fromhappening they can aldo have a representative from them on trips, etc. But don't leave it only intheir hands... (the hands of the state..)
