Me too. We are suppose to become more intelligent as we grow older. Good thing Brian did not graduate from college with good grades, (in anything but a trade today IMO), or he would would still be "Ghost Riding" his opportunities away. (so to speak) Yes, I am judgmental, as it is the only way to hold up good values, and I am Judging Brian right now. "Well done Brian Deegan, Well Done." :)

Yeah I agree, personally I think brians right too and his youth might of played a part in early injuries keeping him away from wins too. When I think of Adam Ciancarulo my first thought is him sepersting his shoulder 3 times in a rsce rookie year and racing moto's with a torn acl to finish the season.

Great podcast, massive fan of Brian in both his career and as a businessman. As someone that raced and now has two young kids racing I feel that drive to win all the time. But he is right, it's the time you spend with them that is way more important than the result. It's that fine line of supporting them but not causing them to feel pressure or lose the fun of why they are racing in the first place. Great insights. Much appreciated.

Brian always seems to say the right things because it’s all for real. It’s not scripted. Like this great vlog, when surfing KZbin now I seem to gravitate to the next “ Deegan Vlog “ for that very reason. If youve never seen/heard their stuff it would be easy to think their “entitled, better than others” people BUT it’s not the case as at all. Brian really gets it. The teen at Lorettas will forget about being 12th in finals but he’ll NEVER forget seeing his Dad throw the bike! Going Pro in MX is VERY tuff. It’s mentally hard to Win all the time and then have to get used to “losing “ again ( it can be like starting over again ) all while keeping the same driving motivation that was built from winning ! The Deegans can get past that because of Brian keeping things real and appreciated. The entitled will struggle.

In my opinion you can't really forsee the future of your kids racing career when he's still on mini bikes and I bet Brian thinks about that. When he gets on a 250f and starts racing amateur nationals on it then his future in the sport will become alot more clear. There have been plenty of super fast kids on superminis that flopped when they got on a big bike weather it was from burn out or just struggling with transitioning to the bigger bikes.

I feel like if you love pushing your personal limits all week, and love winning on the weekends, it's not all that important where you came from. But you definitely need support to even get that ball rolling. Without support, who knows how much talent goes untapped? And if you don't love it, all of the support in the world isn't going to get you there. Either way, every pro championship ever won is an exceptional story.
