The Irony about MX/BMX drama - obviously it's tribal. So sometimes shit talking is not accepted... But the irony is both sides practice shit talking... It's just not always made public. The Buttery crew and fanboys got butt hurt and retaliated. The irony is that; both of the buttery crew and the fanboys are no angels.... Since when do Moto people not talk shit? It's all a part of the fun. Sticks N Stones remember? Don't be little boys who cry as they rage on their keyboard

Buttery is cool. And he’s just that, a guy that has fun riding. He knows he’s not the man, he’s not trying to be. So for a pro that really is the bottom tier to essentially discourage him is pretty douchey.

@@seaeff6428 I mean, the guy is a riding coach and considered one of the 20 best riders in the world at any given time. Saying he’s bottom level when he races at the top level is just ignorant. Saying buttery sucks on a dirtbike isn’t douchie. People have their opinions. Just because you idolize a guy that does dumb things all the time. Doesn’t mean you should put down a guy that dedicated his entire life to learning how to ride a dirtbike the best way he could.

@@dirkhagoort4949 he’s considered one the best 20 riders? By who? You? Lap times say different. Between 250 and 450 he’s not even top 40. He hasn’t come close to a making a main this year. He’s jealous buttery is making 10x what he does and is just having fun. Kids can emulate whoever they want to. Is buttery the perfect example if they’re planning on being the next Ken roczen? No. But it’s also not detrimental either. The shit he said was completely unwarranted and a dick move for no reason. I really can’t get over the fact that you said he’s too 20 in the world at any given time. Weird because he never comes close to making mains. Is 30th or worse in timed qualifying 1/2 the 250 field would smoke him. Top 20 guys in Europe are faster. I guess you could say he’s a top 100 guy? Maybe. I’ve been right there, verbal diarrhea... I’ve said things that just came out wrong, nothing like it should have meant, and people just don’t want to hear an explanation afterwards. You just gotta kinda own it and be like “I said it, “I apologize, what I said came out wrong”, and then just be careful to not do it later. I’m an AJ fan, he is a hell of a rider, and I wish there were guys like him when I was younger that was so willing to work with the youth because I never got that help. Ultimately, I’m 36 now and I just trail ride dirt bikes because I don’t feel like my body could handle big crashes to get good enough to race competitively... though I want to. I do however push quads a little harder and I feel like I could probably go that route in 4 wheels.

My story. Daytona SX 2022. Subscribed to his channel. Subscribed to Moto Academy. Bought merch. So I was a fan. I felt what he's doing is good. Still do. But on this day as a fan I went to his booth and asked him to sign a AJ t-shirt. He looked at me like I was being weird. Asked if it was already signed. I said it has a printed signature. But not an actual signature. I honestly thought he'd be cool about it. I didn't really think too much about it. But after asking for his autograph and him subsequently asking if it was already singed. I honestly didn't know what I should have said. Neither did he ironically. We both stared at each other awkwardly. I then realized he wasn't going to sign the t-shirt. Til this I'll never quite understand what happened there. But I shut off all of it. Unsubscribed from it all. Which I know did nothing in the grand scheme of things. But that's not the point. From my point of view it was a very simple request. Didn't make sense at all to me in any dimension that signing a merch shirt would be an odd or rude request. I'm sure AJ is good dude. But that just made zero sense.

This was an interesting drama as I watch Buttery for entertainment and to laugh at them as they do a lot of the same crap I did when I was younger, and at the same time admire his ability on a bike after only riding a few years. At the same time, I would watch some of AJs tutorials for instruction on how to get better. When I heard about this drama, I was a little disappointed in AJ. But if we throw the emotions out of it and look more specifically what he was saying (part of it is AJs fault for lack of clarity), he is probably intending that if you want to improve and ride like the best and be very sound, technically, you might want to emulate guys like Jeremy, bubba, charmichael and even Axel, but if you want to get faster on the track, you probably don’t want to copy the technique of a guy like Buttery. But as a free rider, it really doesn’t matter because guys like that are just out there having fun.

Sounds to me like it's squashed; go hang out with him and have a beer. You sound like a super cool dude; everyone knows Connor is as cool as it gets. Those guys have so much fun, and the kids love it. And I also get what you're saying.

So in an "unguarded" mindset, true feelings and nature were exposed. That's the "problem" with a carefully crafted image, all it takes is one moment of reality to burn down the PR you've spent so long cultivating.

I've never even heard of AJ Catanzaro until now. Maybe I've been living under a rock. I've been into motocross/supercross since around 1996. I run #96 on my bike, long before Axell Hodges or Hunter Lawrence. But I digress. I'm pretty selective about how much I let this sport and lifestyle consume my life. Maybe that's why I've never heard of him. I do a lot of other things, snowboarding, surfing, golf, etc. Anyway, my point is that AJ is certainly not the who's who of the sport. My feeling is if I've never heard of you, you're a nobody, essentially. That being said, AJ makes a solid point about what kind of riding style the youngsters should emulate, and it's not anything you see on Buttery Films, except maybe Politelli. That being said, I'm a subscriber to Buttery. They make really entertaining content and there's something very genuine and real about it. Plus I'm from SoCal so they're just personalities that I vibe with. Here's the thing, when people have too little going on in their lives that's anything good, there's a level of irritability and discontent that builds up over time, and then trolling others on social media is something a lot of these people do to get their frustrations out. It's honestly pussy shit and these people need to get their shit together and grow up and focus on themselves. Microphone drop. Peace I'm out.

AJ has racing style whereas Buttery has more of a free ride style. Both are good

AJ seems stuck up and arrogant in my eyes. I like him but he needs to treat people a bit nicer. Only reason he's apologizing is due to Buttery's following or he wouldn't give 2 shits
