Great interview. For those who have been involved in motorsport, and it seems motorcycling in particular, these sorts of stories are not new. The majority of major manufacturers give absolutely no loyalty back to riders who bring them glory, and in some cases it falls back onto the team owners themselves also. Contracts are worthless to a rider if the team/manufacturer leaves them virtually destitute at seasons end, knowing the rider is too broke to sue them for outstandings.

I remember going to the Supercross Race in Gillette Stadium in Boston…..Marvin took out Tomac for the win on the last lap……holyshit was I & the entire stadium pissed off, if I remember it looked like Tomac flipped him off, it was in the sand section……I just remember I had KTM TroyLee Designs Hoodie on, more so to support Jordan Smith, but wow did I get hate leaving the stadium. I wasn’t a Marvin fan, because I felt he rode a lot like Dungey, fast af but too cautious……that time, he wasn’t & he went for it & got the win! After watching this interview, I like Marvin even more now……he is just a good dude, I wish he would’ve got that damn phone tho 😅……crazy to think someone that is on TV, racing around the world, is living out of a cash envelope…..if you would’ve asked anyone, you would’ve thought he was making 500K a year back then, and all bro wanted to get was a $500 Euro Samsung Phone (not even an Iphone 💀). Marvin has always been a humble guy & it’s hard to dislike the guy, I wonder if y’all talk about the move he put on Eli for the win in Foxboro, considering that’s where they are racing this weekend……let me know if you do, so I can watch that part 😂

I agree. He may be telling the truth or his version of the truth but could also be he saw an opportunity to ride for Ktm and bounced while under contract. 🤷 Doubt we will ever know the entire story but worked out for him in the end. Sounded a little fishy when he said no money to race but they show up anyway and continue to race and hire lawyers. Doubt they would have been mad if they really were folding up shop. I am sure the contract he was on was terrible at that time. There is no loyalty in business especially racing so he did what he needed to do to better his own career.
