Originally slated for a Halloween release last year (in the Orson Welles tradition), and then _this_ year, and now running two to three weeks late. The Long 2020 and its Rabid Bullshit continue unabated, but you knew that. If you see any problems with the vid, shoot me a PM or something. I've forgotten how this site works.

As a history buff this book is phenomenal. The fact that this was written in the 1890’s is insane when you truly understand how London at the time was dull and gray due to newfangled factories, so the level of imagination needed to produce such an out-of-this-world novel is insane.
@hyperion31455 ай бұрын
The book is less "out of this world" when you notice that the technology the Martians use were already being discussed and theorized by that time. Flying machines, legged machines and heat rays were things already being passed around by then. Funnily enough, people at the time weren't impressed by the technology described or the violence, but that the Martians were advanced but weren't humanlike...
@Citrusautomaton5 ай бұрын
@@hyperion3145 That is understandable. I do think that the Martians essentially being living brains that construct machines as their bodies is an amazing concept that really got lost in basically every adaptation :(

The fact that the guy who wrote this could even imagine futuristic beings with literally no visuals to go off of like we have, it's just completely amazing. It's like this guy came to the 2000s and came back to write this book, lol.

I temember my grandad telling me many years ago about a book written long ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember who wrote it, but it talked about the weightlessness of the moon in it. It's amazing just how inventive science fiction writers can be and are often on the mark before the scientists

My goodness, thank you so much for recording this, this is stellar. I've looked around KZbin for an audiobook version of this novella and sampled maybe seven different ones, and only yours is exactly what I hoped to find. You have a great reading voice, just the right English accent for this story, and I also really appreciate that you did the full, unabridged novella. This deserves way more than just 21 likes. Would you be interested in making this available as a series of MP3 downloads as well?

@ShadowOfCygnus6 ай бұрын
Many thanks -- I can promise there will never be any generative "AI" content on this channel. Stephen King is a bit trickier, though. H. G. Wells' work is in the public domain, as is the poetry that I've read on here; currently-living authors' published works are (rightly) copyright- and trademark-protected, and are thus off-limits for this kind of production.

Here is a tip. Check for videos older than 2 years. They won't use robots, or if they do, they will be the rudimentary kind.
