Hey guys, for anyone having issues with the vibration/buzzing noise that the straps make, just give them a little half twist and it totally stops any noise even at high speeds.

Bought one like yours for my girlfriend, seems that she enjoyed it. I tried it myself too and I agreed with all you said. Easy to carry so I can take it with me on top of my car, I live on an island, so we have open sea, but in sheltered places that will be great to investigate corners where my legs can't reach. Again thanks for sharing this video.

It’s not bad. There is no skeg but the under side is shaped to help and the wheel I guess doubles as a skeg a bit. But for the price it’s ok. Lots of fun.

I got myself a rigid kayak after owning an inflatable. I was also on the Basingstoke canal using the rigid for the first time. I was on the slipway at the "pub" and rolled out. Instinctively, I grabbed a railing on the slipway and ended up breaking my shoulder in two places. Been signed off work for past 2 months!

I get the bumblebee strap noise too sometimes, it's often the loose ends and not a man sized hornet on the roof. I quite like the look of that kayak and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun on it. At least you wont need to worry about punctures anymore.

🎂🍻🥃🍾 , happy birthday. It'll be roto- moulded plastic. Built-in seat back is a great feature for an allegedly 'budget' kayak😯👍. I'm sure you'll find out that the memories & sights are just as priceless when viewed from an inexpensive kayak compared to an expensive one. Now start looking for those more shallow streams & rivers you can navigate down😊👍. Neoprene shoes/ boots are a must, they mean you can drag your hard kayak out of the water anywhere of your choosing . You can fabricate water barriers for each side of your paddle if the paddle doesn't have any- stops the water running down the shank at the top of your stroke. The more vertical your paddling, the more efficient it is for propulsion.... however, the more vertical paddling increases the likelihood of water droplets falling on you😑. It's got quite a flat bottom so we all want to see you sledging in it if you get snow this year 😉👍. Trust me, there's something worse that depending on an income from a $#!7 job..... that's having no job. Stick at it and look for the positives. My crappy job has a good pension and sometimes my days off are in the middle of the week- that allows me to hit the urban wilds when everyone else is at work😯👍.

G'day Billy, yeah I was gonna mention drip rings but you beat me to it. A bit of sledding would be good to see, lol; no reason why not I reckon, given the right location. Cheers Duke.
@billyaitken17133 жыл бұрын
Eye of the Tiger - Hey Duke, good to hear from you. 'Drip rings', I've got 'em on my Hobie paddles and my fishing kayak too. They're easily installed on any paddle that joins in the middle - just put a hole in the middle of a circle of rubber sheet ( car inner tube? Roll mat?) and thread it along each half of the paddle. I managed to score some Quicksilver 'Waterman' trousers on the cheap and they physically repel water quite well in the kayak, but in my slice of Oz you're wearing shorts most of the year round anyway - trousers are only to prevent sunburn!! 😎👍 Dan'll be used to 'shallower' paddling with the high walls & bulk of the inflatable kayak he's previously been using. Have a good day bro😎👍
@CampLifeBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
I was going to swap the drip rings off my old kayak paddles as they are a bit flimsy compared to the new ones. that should help the water situation. and I do own neoprene booties, so good shout mate. feeling a bit more positive this week, it was just that first week that ruined me. it'll get better.

Thank you.. I’d say no to using this on the sea.. I took it out a few months back near Hayling island and got in all sorts of trouble. I had water washing over the front and got quite nervous about going in. It was early morning and very cold so I didn’t want to be swimming! I guess if you were using it during the summer that would be different but I’d consider a slightly bigger boat in all honesty. A 2 man version that can take more weight would be better imo.

Dan👍👍 Happy belated birthday! Nice gift this kayak, I think you'll like it even better the more you become accustom to it. My son has one that is purpose made for fishing, it can go any where and is super stable even in rough waters. It's a bit longer and wider than yours, as he can stand up on it if needed while casting/retrieving. I was of the opinion that sit on top kayaks were just toys really but they have evolved into some serious gear the last few years. Great first paddle, maybe a little splash and dribble water but no capsize or real issues, well done. Great video, thanks. Enjoy!

I'm looking at somthin similar when I get to it on the priority list. Just goes to prove, it doesn't need to be a high end boat to do the business. #1 The buzzing you heard was because you used flat straps... the trick is to twist the straps so they don't buzz but the buzz will cause the straps to cut through your kayak! #2 THE H20 FLO IS THE EXACT SAME KAYAK AS THE AZUL SUN 10. #3 If you weigh more than 180 pounds you are too big for this kayak #4 THE WHEEL IS FRIGGIN AWESOME!

Great vid. I was just given a Seaflo SF-1003 (sold here in Australia) for free with frayed side handles, missing bung and plug things that go through the hull, so not bad with some light beaching scuffing on the underside of the bow. Can the little storage hole be sealed better or don't bother and just use a tiny drybag? Funny thing is that I thought that the holes through the hull were supposed to be open full time because my wife's 12 footer fishing kayak was second hand and didn't have any plug things. Regards, Jas. VK4FJGS Rocky Qld

Looked interesting mate, the max load would not work for a man of my girth , especially once I add a load for wild camping. Last time my savloy carried a total of 140kg . No doubt they do one with a bigger payload. Will look into it👍
@eyeofthetiger41843 жыл бұрын
G'day Rob, I'm a bit narrower and taller than you. But the load rating would need to be much the same I'm guess'n. Of course there's plenty of models out there to handle a heavier load, though in my research to date you generally sacrifice the weight of the boat to get it. Just somthin' to keep an eye on. Cheers Duke.

I had the same green inflatable kayak as you and got a puncture, after I had repaired it I got a second larger puncture. I got frustrated with the thing and threw it away in the end. Anyway, those inflatable kayaks came with a detachable fin. I wondered if this new one has one of those, it might help with the stability issue.
@eyeofthetiger41843 жыл бұрын
G'day Neil, I was think'n the same thing. On the one hand it's the nature of the beast to perhaps not track perfectly, on the other, a fin, or skeg, makes a shipload of difference, pardon the pun, but not something you want to add on in the garage unless you really know your stuff or if the mounting point is already installed, which I think is your point. Cheers Duke.
@CampLifeBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
no these ones don't have the skeg, it is shaped vaguely with a fin near the end where the wheel is. but it tracks ok with that.

Greasy feeling on the roof of your mouth AND and the piercing shriek from a kid with a whistle, now that's living! A new job can be very stressful but screaming into the void, sobbing uncontrollably & adopting the foetal position can help (especially if performed in front of your new colleagues) I have a 7'10" kayak that fits neatly inside my old Civic, but the buzzing noise from the straps does sound very attractive, so perhaps I'll explore the roof top option... :)

Happy Birthday to you Dan. Mine was at the beginning of this month too. Hope you had a nice one. How exciting to have a new toy to do some exploring. Do I see you taking it out for an overnighter in the near future? Maybe if you add some weight to the front so it’s even it won’t feel wobbly? Just be prepared with your pack being waterproof so it gets protected. Of course you can always dry off without any harm. Bring a change of clothes. Does the oar extend any more? Anyway, thanks for sharing your maiden voyage. Be well and stay safe.
